REPORTS TO: Cancer Center Director
JOB SUMMARY
Under direct supervision of the Clinic Director, the Oncology Nurse Navigator (ONN) will provide direct patient care and comprehensive coordination of care for medical oncology patients and their families/caregivers, to eliminate barriers to timely care, facilitate flow through system, facilitate interactions with other physician offices, increase patient and provider satisfaction, maintain point of contact with other provider offices and serve as the first point of contact for patients and families. The nurse navigator will be responsible for administering nursing care to patients in a safe, efficient, compassionate, and courteous manner using proper nursing procedures.
The ONN will provide comprehensive care to patients from diagnosis through the cancer continuum. This position is a registered nurse with expertise in oncology and assessment, who acts as clinician (providing direct and indirect patient care), care coordinator, patient / family educator and counselor to achieve optimal patient outcomes for patients with cancer. They will assist patients through the diagnostic, treatment and supportive care dimensions of their cancer journey. The ONN works collaboratively within an interdisciplinary health team and is responsible for providing comprehensive and age-appropriate care/consultation to patients during periods of illness and wellness until they are discharged from the service. They provide support and guidance, linking patients and their families to health care services that meet their needs and serve as a communication bridge between patients, families and members of the cancer care team. The ONN coordinates resources into a seamless model of access, care and support that benefits patients, family members, and participating physicians.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Current Wyoming license as a Registered Nurse. Prefer Bachelor of Science in Nursing.
EXPERIENCE
Prefer at least 2 years of experience in oncology nursing.

- Knowledge of infusion and chemotherapy nursing principles.
- Knowledge of aseptic technique and infection control principles.
- Provide compassionate care to the hematology and oncology patient population.
- Able to perform effectively in highly stressful situations.
- Must be well motivated, organized and able to prioritize multiple tasks.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Effective computer and keyboarding skills.
- Must have ability to learn and use Microsoft Office Suite products including Word and Outlook.
- Ability to learn new computer software applications.
- Ability to serve as an example to other employees.
REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS
BLS (AHA) required.
Chemotherapy and Biotherapy provider card required.
