If so, this position is for you!

You can work for our Long Term Care Center as an Unlicensed Personal Assistant (UPA) while you are completing your CNA certification course.

Once you receive your Graduate or Certified Nursing Assistant license, and you are in good standing in your position, you will be promoted to your new night shift GNA/CNA position!

Candidate must receive C.N.A. license within 6 months of starting the C.N.A. program.

SCHOLARSHIP AVAILABLE w/2 YEAR COMMITMENT TO WORK FOR CRH AS A CNA ONCE FULLY LICENSED

  • Candidates that enroll in the CRH CNA program will enter into a scholarship agreement which commits them to working for CRH for the period of 2 years as a Certified Nursing Assistant. This scholarship covers your tuition, fees, books, on the job training, and paid class time. The candidate will also be offered a $3,500.00 supplemental pay agreement once FULLY licensed as a CNA for full-time CNA positions.

New CNA’s will be expected to work the night shift position unless there is an open day shift available.

DEPARTMENT: Long Term Care Center
REPORTS TO: Charge Nurse, Nursing Supervisor, and Director of Nursing
CONSULTS WITH: CRH CNAs, Nurses, Dietitian and Dietary Staff

JOB SUMMARY
UPA will be a staff member with a focus on the resident. The presence of the UPA will be dependent on the CNA to Resident ratio. The UPA will be assisting the CNA's and Nurses in completing tasks listed but not limited to nutrition intake, fluid intake, side work, and providing common comforts for LTCC residents.

JOB REQUIREMENTS
This position will require specified training in assisting residents with meals, obtaining percentages, operating LTCC Van and Bus, and acceptable practices for Unlicensed Personnel while caring for our residents.

  • Exhibits an interest in and understanding of the special needs of the older adult and others requiring long term care.
  • Must possess a high degree of confidentiality in all matters with the ability to manage sensitive and confidential situations with tact, professionalism, and diplomacy.
  • Must have strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate with staff and public in a friendly, courteous and helpful manner.
  • Must be able to interact effectively with a wide variety of people.
  • Must have well-developed written and verbal communication skills to interpret written instructions, communicate and document basic charting effectively.
  • Effective computer and keyboarding skills.
  • Must have ability to learn and use Microsoft Office Suite products including Word and Outlook.
  • Ability to learn new computer software applications.

REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS
BLS (AHA); Current drivers’ license and clear driving record.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Coordinates resident needs with UC, CNA, Nurse, Bath Aide and Restorative Aide.
  • Provides excellent customer service to residents, family members, physicians, staff members and visitors.
  • Answers phone calls on each unit as trained and with a professional and courteous attitude.
  • Ensures rooms stay neat by performing light housekeeping duties, such as straightening up closets, making beds, folding blankets, organizing nightstands, etc.
  • Ensures living areas stay neat by performing small housekeeping duties, such as lowering recliners, folding blankets, disposing of paper cups and plates, etc.
  • Assists activities staff by assisting residents to get to scheduled activities such as bingo or the beauty shop.
  • Completes the required State Feeding Assistant Program and successfully completes annual CEU’s associated with specific training requirements.
  • Distributes ice water around 1000 & 1500 to ensure all residents have access to fresh water per preference and documents the amount of fluid intake.
  • Offers and delivers snacks to all residents at approximately 1000 and 1500 to promote consistent access to food throughout the day. Accurately documents each resident’s snack consumption.
  • Assists residents to dining areas, applies clothing protectors as appropriate, and serves meals and beverages. Supports CNAs by providing feeding assistance and cueing to residents identified as lower risk for choking. Accurately and completely documents food consumption percentages and fluid intake.
  • Assists residents in returning to the main living area or their personal rooms following meals. Promptly reports poor appetite, low food consumption, or inadequate fluid intake to the charge nurse.
  • Answers call lights and ensure they are within reach of the resident.
  • Assists residents with small needs, such as bringing them a blanket, refreshing their coffee, etc.
  • Assists the CNA’s with placing personal care products, linens, laundry, etc. in the correct residential rooms.
  • Notifies supervisor(s) of any suspected abuse immediately.
  • Set up and cue residents with ADLs if needed.
  • Notify charge nurse if resident is requesting medication, change in care plans, or any concerns.
  • Reports any changes or unusual observations of the resident to the charge nurse.
  • Can assist activities with tasks such as labeling new laundry for residents.
  • Upholds resident rights and freedoms as stated in the Resident’s Rights Policy.
  • Maintains strict confidentiality and upholds HIPPA requirements.
  • Attend mandatory orientation, staff meetings and in-services.
  • Knows and has ability to carry out approved emergency procedures.
  • Reports all unusual occurrences, breakages and damage.
  • Conforms to dress code and all other policies and procedures of the facility.
