Instructional Coordinator & Coach, K-8
Math/Science Focus
REPORTS TO: Director of Curriculum and Instruction
PRIMARY PURPOSE:
The Instructional Coordinator and Coach “ICC” organizes, integrates and leads the District 31 instructional programs, as well as assisting teachers in the implementation of high-quality,
standards-aligned programs of instruction for all students. The ICC will work directly with teachers in a school providing classroom-based demonstrations, collaborative and one-on-one support and coaching, facilitation of collaborative inquiry to determine impact on student learning, and related professional development. The ICC will focus on enhancing teachers’ ability to provide instruction that empowers students to take ownership of learning through engaging and impactful instructional practices. The ICC will also work with administrators and teachers to collect and analyze data, interpret, and use it to guide instructional decisions. Focus areas will be determined on an annual basis based on data analysis, strategic planning, and greatest area of need per curriculum review cycles and programming audits.
QUALIFICATIONS:
● Education/Licensure
○ Master’s degree in education leadership, curriculum and instruction, or related field (Math or Science)
○ Meets all current licensing requirements including endorsement(s) in the appropriate teaching areas, as determined by the Illinois State Board of Education
● Experience
○ At least 5 years of successful teaching experience in math or related field
○ Proven leadership and decision-making abilities
○ Proven skills in analyzing data for individual students, grade levels, as well as district-wide.
○ Instructional Coaching experience preferred
● Knowledge
○ Experience working with diverse populations or ESL Endorsement preferred
○ Experience with curriculum design, instructional strategies, and assessment practices
○ Experience with the PLC process
○ Experience with evidence-based/standards-based learning and assessment
● Skills
○ Successful teacher leadership that demonstrates professional qualities and strong interpersonal skills, including collaboration with classroom teachers
