West Monona High School - Assistant (¾ contract) Softball Coach
Summary
The Assistant (¾ position shared assistant contract) Softball Coach will work under the supervision of the Head Coach. The Assistant Coach must realize and appreciate the need to be a role model for the West Monona Athletics Department and be highly visible in the Onawa Community promoting the sport of softball.
Responsibilities/Essential Functions:
- The Assistant High School Softball Coach is to assist the Head Coach in supporting West Monona High School’s mission, along with the Activities Dept. Program’s mission, with the development and implementation of an exemplary softball program that will effectively provide the best possible educational and athletic experience for each student athlete.
Qualifications:
- Valid Iowa Coaching endorsement
- Annual concussion certification required
- Annual completion of Mandatory Reporters
The successful candidate will exhibit:
- Comprehensive knowledge of the game of softball is expected.
- Extensive knowledge of current softball coaching techniques and procedures.
- Knowledge of the IGHSAU rules and expectations for the sport of softball.
- Demonstrated ability to instruct and supervise student-athletes.
- Utilization of technology is required.
- Ability to communicate effectively in spoken and written words to all stakeholders.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Ability to establish a strong rapport with all stakeholders of the West Monona High School softball program.
- High level of accountability and visibility to the WMCSD.
- Progressive thinking and a believer in planning and preparation.
- Appropriate sportsmanship at all times.
- Care for the student athlete as a whole person year around.
- Support and expect softball student-athletes to be multi-sport athletes.
- Consistent and punctual basis.
- Ability to create a sense of belonging and a welcoming environment for all athletes, families, and staff.
