Summary
West Monona CSD is searching for a 7th & 8th Grade Boys and Girls Track Coach for the 26-27 school year. The ideal candidate will have knowledge of the game of Boys and Girls Track while promoting a positive and competitive environment. Coaches are expected to run practices that will develop skills necessary in the sport while building a positive culture built around effort and teamwork.
Responsibilities/Essential Functions:
Lead and oversee all aspects of the 7th & 8th Grade Boys and Girls Track program.
Develop and implement effective practice plans and game strategies.
Promote a positive culture
Support student-athletes’ academic and personal growth.
Manage program logistics including equipment, scheduling, and communication.
Promote the athletic program for purposes of increasing interest and participation.
Prepare areas used for practice and game use.
Accompany and supervise students
Advise students and parents on the athletic code of conduct, including consequences for violation, and coordinate with the Activities Director in instances of possible violations of the code of conduct.
Maintain inventory of uniforms and equipment within the program.
Qualifications:
- Valid Iowa Coaching endorsement
- Annual concussion certification required
- Annual completion of Mandatory Reportings
The successful candidate will exhibit:
- Comprehensive knowledge of the sport of Boys and Girls Track is expected.
- Extensive knowledge of current Boys and Girls Track coaching techniques and procedures.
- Demonstrated ability to instruct and supervise student-athletes.
- Utilization of technology is required.
- Ability to communicate effectively in spoken and written words to all stakeholders.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Ability to establish a strong rapport with all stakeholders of the West Monona 7th and 8th Grade Boys and Girls Track program.
- High level of accountability and visibility to the WMCSD.
- Progressive thinking and a believer in planning and preparation.
- Appropriate sportsmanship at all times.
- Care for the student athlete as a whole person year around.
- Consistent and punctual basis.
Ability to create a sense of belonging and a welcoming environment for all athletes, families, and staff.
