Job Title: Youth and Family Coordinator

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Youth & Family Coordinator is a creative, fun, and inspirational leader who is excited to oversee a series of high-quality, values-based programs for children and families throughout the area. The Coordinator is a visionary who sees the incredible potential in every child and is passionate about making a direct impact in the lives of children, parents, and families through a combination of existing programs while also developing new & creative programming aimed at building up our youth and helping to strengthen families in our community. The Coordinator understands that our current programs of After School & Summer care are mission-driven and present a great opportunity to develop each child’s physical, intellectual, personal, emotional and social development. The Coordinator is highly organized with the experience to manage, administer, and expand our school-age. Operating within the policies, procedures, and practices of the West Medford Community Center, this position is responsible for creating a positive, member-focused culture.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Manage assigned program areas and activities, ensure programs comply with all applicable WMCC standards and methods of operation and continually strive to attain the highest possible level of quality.
- Evaluate and review all aspects of assigned programs to ensure consistent quality and safety.
- Directly facilitate and manage delivery of programming.
- Assist in the development and distribution of materials to promote programs and membership, ensuring all communications meet the WMCC standards and requirements.
- Monitor assigned budget to ensure revenue and expenses are consistent with approved budget plan.
- Determine staffing needs of assigned program area(s) within WMCC guidelines and procedures. Manage and maintain staffing to cover all areas of assigned program(s).
- Build, lead, develop, and train a staff/volunteer team that genuinely cares about the needs of our community and our members and works to exceed expectations every day.
- Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with WMCC staff.
- Serve as a WMCC representative, both within the organization and outside the organization.
- Assist in the organization’s financial development efforts, including the annual fundraising campaign.
- Plan, prepare, organize, and implement special events as required.
- Demonstrate and support the objectives of the organization as embodied in the mission statement and values.
- Perform additional duties as required.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- Bachelor’s degree in youth development or a related field, or a minimum of 5 years work-related experience.
- 3 years experience working as teacher, coordinator, or supervisor of programs for school-age youth in areas of child development, recreation, education, or related fields.
- Ability to relate effectively communicate with a diverse group of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
- Ability to create innovative & intentional programming to serve a broad demographic across the community
- Ability to effectively build and develop partnerships throughout the community
- Excellent communication & relationship building skills that are necessary for the ongoing communication with the staff, parents, participants, and community
- Demonstrated computer skills in a Microsoft Windows environment.
- CPR-PR/First Aid/AED Certification or equivalent is required prior to start date and must be maintained to meet position requirements.
- Additional trainings to be assigned and completed within 30 days, as well as maintained afterwards.
PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:
While performing the responsibilities of the position, the employee is required to talk and hear, sit, stand, walk, reach with arms and hands, use hands and fingers to handle and feel and lift up to 25 pounds of weight. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance and to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Vision abilities required by this job include close and distance vision and may at times require peripheral vision.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud. This position usually works in a childcare facility type of environment, but the mission of the organization may sometimes take them to non-standard workplaces. This position works a standard work week, but additionally will often work evening, weekend, and additional hours to accommodate management of program activities and representation of the organization at events. CORI & SORI Background Checks are required for this position.
