ACCOUNTABILITY OBJECTIVE: The custodial-maintenance positions shall maintain buildings, grounds, and equipment in the West Jefferson Hills School District. This position
accomplishes this by performing cleaning, janitorial, and other labor duties, which may include minor repair or replacement of various items, operating mechanical services and vehicles, and
supply inventory. This work will support the district in providing a safe and clean environment for the students, staff, and community. All duties will be done in a professional manner,
especially around children and the community
Performance Accountabilities

Lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling 50 pounds
Ability to continuously kneel, crouch, bend and reach to retrieve and handle cleaning
equipment and supplies

Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent, preferred
- Two years of custodial and maintenance experience, preferred
- Experience with HVAC, plumbing, carpentry, and electrical, preferred
- Able to understand and perform oral and written instructions
- Able to manage multiple priorities and work independently and/or as part of a team
- Able to use cleaning materials and equipment to perform modern cleaning techniques
- Must possess a valid PA driver's license with appropriate endorsements/class (as needed) and demonstrate ability to drive district vehicle required.
- Demonstrate knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, carpentry, and electrical
- Demonstrate knowledge in reading blueprints and drawings.
- Ability to be flexible and perform other tasks as assigned.
- Knowledge of applicable safety rules, practices, and procedures

Performance Accountabilities
- Models and exemplifies the district's core values
- Receive and process work orders
- Coordinates and works with other custodians in the proper use of materials and equipment to complete work orders
- Responds to safety, sanitary, and fire hazards immediately and takes appropriate action
- Inspects, cleans, and operates heating, ventilation, electrical and security systems with prescribed instructions.
- Performs a variety of carpentry duties, including new construction, remodel, fabrication and repairs/replacements as needed
- Maintains boiler room including draining boilers, clearing debris, lubricating moving parts where applicable, cleaning boilers and flues, maintaining safety valves, etc. to
- Performs scheduled preventative maintenance of roofs, motors, exit/emergency lighting, generators, batteries, security system, and batteries
- Performs interior and exterior painting in the preparation and finishing of various surfaces, including pressure washing, chemical paint removal, sandblasting, sanding,
- Performs a variety of minor plumbing repairs/maintenance, including but not limited to restroom commode and sink fixtures and drinking fountains
- Performs a broad spectrum of hardware repairs and installations
- Operates a variety of hand and power tools
- Operates a variety of vehicles including standard trucks, dump trucks, and box trucks and may involve towing district trailers
- Safely works from ladders, scaffolding, and riggings
- Maintains tools and equipment to ensure good operating conditions
- Responds to emergency calls to troubleshoot and make building repairs
- Performs custodial duties as needed
- Maintains and requests supplies and equipment used to complete assigned tasks and reports any malfunctions to the facilities manager.
- Maintains building security by securing locks on doors and windows and corrects or reports safety hazards and is familiar with operation of security alarm system.
- Sets up, takes down, arranges tables and chairs, and related equipment, and welcomes and directs visitors, as needed.
- Performs miscellaneous work such as washing windows, changing light bulbs and ballasts, servicing, and cleaning equipment
- Performs outdoor duties such as plowing, salting, and/or shoveling and grounds care as needed
- Work professionally and collaboratively with co-workers, students, staff, faculty, administration, and community members.
- Attend meetings and/or in-service as deemed necessary by the Director of Facilities.
- Maintain a valid driver's license and clean driving record
- Performs other duties as assigned by Building Principal, Facilities Manager, or Director of Facilities
