West Jefferson Christian School is seeking a motivated and caring Elementary Teacher to serve students in our Christian Hybrid Homeschool Program for grades 3–5.

West Jefferson Christian School partners with parents to strengthen the Christian home by providing a Christ-centered educational environment grounded in Biblical truth, academic excellence, and intentional discipleship. Our Hybrid Homeschool Program combines structured classroom instruction with active parent partnership, allowing students to receive quality academic instruction while parents continue to reinforce learning and spiritual growth at home.

The teacher will provide daily instruction for students in grades 3–5 using the Abeka curriculum in a structured, supportive classroom environment. With a maximum class size of six students, this position provides the opportunity to develop meaningful relationships, provide individualized instruction, and help students grow academically, spiritually, and personally.

The ideal candidate is passionate about Christian education, committed to Biblical worldview integration, and desires to invest in the lives of students through excellent teaching and Christlike example.

Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:50 a.m.–12:14 p.m. (180 instructional days)
Compensation: $25,000 annually (approximately $35/hour)

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide daily classroom instruction for students in grades 3–5 using the Abeka curriculum.
  • Prepare weekly lesson plans utilizing provided curriculum materials and deliver instruction according to the school's academic schedule and educational philosophy.
  • Create an organized, engaging, and supportive classroom environment that encourages academic achievement, spiritual growth, and Christlike character.
  • Provide individualized instruction and support to students with varying academic strengths and learning needs.
  • Reinforce biblical principles and Christian values through classroom instruction, discussions, and daily interactions with students.
  • Evaluate student progress through assignments, quizzes, tests, classroom observations, and other assessment methods.
  • Maintain accurate student records and communicate consistently with parents through conferences, reports, and school communication channels.
  • Encourage parents in their role of reinforcing and remediating classroom instruction at home.
  • Work collaboratively with the Director and faculty members to strengthen the overall educational experience.
  • Participate in school activities, including chapel services, faculty meetings, mentoring opportunities, field trips, and co-curricular activities.
  • Continue developing as a Christian educator through professional growth and collaboration with school leadership.

Qualifications

  • A strong Christian testimony and commitment to the mission, values, and educational philosophy of West Jefferson Christian School.
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Education or a related field preferred.
  • State teaching certification preferred but not required.
  • Previous elementary classroom teaching experience preferred.
  • Experience teaching elementary students, providing individualized instruction, or working in a homeschool environment preferred.
  • Familiarity with the Abeka curriculum preferred.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and classroom management skills.
  • Ability to connect with students and create a positive, structured learning environment.
  • Commitment to partnering with parents and supporting the role of the Christian home.
