Position Summary
West Jackson Community Development Corporation (WJCDC) is seeking a motivated and relationship-driven Reentry Employment Specialist to support justice-involved young adults ages 18–24 in obtaining and retaining meaningful employment. The Employment Specialist will develop employer partnerships, connect participants with career opportunities, coordinate work-based learning experiences, and provide ongoing employment support to help participants achieve long-term career success.
The ideal candidate is passionate about workforce development, believes in second chances, and has experience helping individuals overcome barriers to employment.
Essential Responsibilities
- Develop employment opportunities for program participants through outreach to local employers.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with businesses, workforce partners, training providers, and community organizations.
- Match participants with employment opportunities based on their skills, interests, and career goals.
- Assist participants with resume development, interview preparation, job search strategies, and workplace readiness.
- Coordinate job fairs, hiring events, employer presentations, and recruitment activities.
- Identify and develop work-based learning opportunities, including internships, apprenticeships, and on-the-job training.
- Maintain regular contact with employers and participants to support successful job placement and retention.
- Monitor employment outcomes and conduct follow-up with participants after placement.
- Document employer contacts, participant services, job placements, and retention activities in accordance with grant requirements.
- Collaborate with case managers and program staff to ensure participants receive supportive services that improve employment success.
- Represent WJCDC at networking events, community meetings, and employer engagement activities.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Pay: $40,000.00 per year
