Position: Instructional Assistant - English Language Development (ELD) Program
Reports to: Principal and Instructional Lead Teacher
Supervises: None
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills with students and adults required.
- Computer application skills required.
- Satisfy all district requirements with regard to physical health and citizenship.
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board of Education may find appropriate and acceptable.
Position Goal: Assist certified staff in meeting individual student needs within a variety of instructional settings.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
- Reinforce English language development in content areas; math, English language arts, social studies, and science.
- Work with individuals and groups of students to reinforce or remediate learning initially introduced by the teacher.
- Guide student independent, enrichment, and remedial work assigned by the teacher.
- Organize, distribute, collect, and prepare materials, i.e., project materials, student manipulatives, etc.
- Review student work, supervise testing and assessments, and maintain records as assigned by the teacher.
- Collaborate with teachers in planning and curricular areas.
- Assist in the supervision of students in a variety of settings.
- Serve as a source of information and help to any substitute teacher assigned in the absence of the teacher or may be assigned as the substitute teacher.
- Maintain a level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students as is expected of certified teachers.
- Perform all other duties assigned.
Employment Terms: Nine (9) month classified hourly contract
