Primary Purpose:
Provide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences designed to fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. Enable students to develop competencies and skills to function successfully in society. To support the vision and goals of the campus and district Fine Arts program, to produce outstanding performing groups, to develop individual musicianship with all students, to promote an appreciation for the best in all areas of music, and to teach the value of individual and team effort in reaching a common goal. Enable students to develop competencies and skills to function successfully in society.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Certification:
Bachelor’s Degree from accredited university
Valid Texas teaching certificate, with required endorsements for subjects/level assigned
Demonstrate competency in the core academic subject/level assigned
Special Knowledge and Skills:
Strong Woodwind background preferred
Knowledge of beginning band pedagogy
General knowledge of curriculum and instruction
Knowledge of University Interscholastic League (UIL) and Texas Music Educators Association (TMEA) rules and procedures
Experience:
At least one year of student teaching or approved internship
Duties and Responsibilities:
Primary responsibilities include teaching beginning band students (6th grade) at Northpointe Intermediate and Oakcrest Intermediate.
Collaborate with Willow Wood Junior High band staff to establish seamless vertical team and clear vision for student achievement.
Develop individual musicianship with all students and promote an appreciation for music
Prepare students for successful concerts and special performances
Direct band section rehearsals as required
Attend and direct all outside of the academic day functions and events connected to the Northpointe and Oakcrest bands
Maintain quality student management and discipline in the organization and in the classroom
Maintain and accurate inventory and assignment records of school uniforms and instruments
Performs other duties as assigned
Working Conditions:

Maintain emotional control under stress. Occasional travel required in-district and out-of-district for school functions and/or activities. Frequent standing, stooping, bending, pulling, and pushing. Move small stacks of textbooks, media equipment, desks, and other classroom equipment.
Wage/Hour Status: Exempt
Pay Grade: 60
