We are seeking a dedicated Durable Medical Equipment Technician to join our team here at West Gate Home Medical. In this position, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safe and timely delivery, setup, and demonstration of durable medical equipment (DME) to our valued customers. You will be responsible for providing exceptional service, educating customers on equipment usage, and maintaining accurate documentation. The ideal candidate should have a strong technical aptitude, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to customer satisfaction.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Patient Care

  • Maintains a courteous, professional attitude toward all contacts, including patients, caregivers, and customers while maintaining a neat and clean appearance.
  • Safeguards patient’s Protected Health Information and adheres to all HIPAA privacy regulations
  • Educates the patient and/or caregiver on the safe use and maintenance of the delivered items and provides clear instructions to patients and/or caregivers to ensure understanding of equipment
  • Observes additional needs that the patient may have and reports to management
  • Strong communication skills that provide support, reflective listening, and compassion to patients.
  • Maintain a professional and courteous demeanor when interacting with customers, demonstrating empathy, patience, and excellent customer service.
  • Safely and efficiently deliver and set up DME equipment to customer locations, ensuring proper installation and functionality.
  • Inspecting equipment for damage in order to ensure safe use by patients
  • Assist customers in understanding and completing necessary paperwork, including consent forms, rental agreements, and insurance documentation.

Office Responsibilities

  • Completes all necessary delivery forms and paperwork including, but not limited to invoices, work orders, manifests and logs, patient care instructions, route sheets, etc.
  • Develops and maintains working knowledge of current products and services offered by the company.
  • Maintaining inventory of equipment and supplies on hand to ensure adequate supply levels
  • Collaborate with the customer service team to coordinate delivery schedules, address customer inquiries, and ensure a smooth delivery experience.
  • May create next days’ delivery schedule and prepare equipment and supply order.
  • Maintains a neat and clean personal appearance and workspace.
  • Demonstrates teamwork among co-workers.
  • Accepts other duties and activities as assigned.
  • Ensure accurate and complete documentation of all delivery activities, including customer signatures, equipment logs, and incident reports.
  • Conduct equipment inspections and testing to ensure proper functioning and compliance with quality standards.
  • Provide thorough demonstrations to customers on the proper usage, maintenance, and safety guidelines of the equipment.
  • Adhere to company policies, procedures, and safety guidelines, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and quality standards.
  • Keep abreast of product updates, industry trends, and best practices related to DME equipment setup and demonstrations.

Delivery and Maintenance

  • Safely delivers and picks up medical equipment from rehabilitation facilities and home care patients.
  • Delivers equipment and oxygen as required in accordance with industry standards and applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations
  • Sets up equipment and provides instructions to patients on their HME, such as hospital beds, patient lifts, wheelchairs, oxygen.
  • Following delivery route instructions and keeping records of deliveries made
  • Loading and unloading instruments and supplies from delivery trucks
  • Maintains assigned company vehicle in a clean and safe working condition
  • Following safety regulations such as wearing seat belts and driving carefully to avoid accidents
  • Properly cares for and uses electronic tablet that is assigned for job duties
  • Responds to emergency delivery and service calls as needed and on an on-call basis.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve any technical issues or questions that arise during the delivery or setup process.
  • Cleans and sanitizes equipment.
  • Reports equipment hazards and/or product incidents as required
  • Conduct equipment inspections and testing to ensure proper functioning and compliance with quality standards.

Qualifications:

  • At least 21 years of age and a valid DMV driver license with a good driving record for the past three years.
  • Has a clean driving record, good organizational skills, valuable team members, and is approachable and has a good spirit.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Caring and patient individuals who are comfortable delivering equipment to customers with various mental and physical disabilities, illnesses.
  • Excellent customer service skills. Good verbal skills to explain how equipment functions and maintenance requirements.
  • Proven technical and mechanical aptitude in areas such as troubleshooting, repairs and critical thinking.
  • Flexible and dependable with good time management skills.
  • Takes ownership of work schedules and takes pride in their work.
  • Quick learner and enthusiastic team player who strives for excellence.
  • Must be able to frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Temporary

Pay: From $19.00 per hour
