- Assist patients in choosing eyewear that suits their prescription, style preferences, and lifestyle needs
- Take precise measurements of pupillary distance, frame fit, and lens prescriptions to ensure optimal vision correction
- Prepare and verify medical records, including optical prescriptions, medical history, and billing information using electronic medical record (EMR) system (Compulink)
- Maintain a clean, sterile environment by following aseptic techniques during lens fitting and adjustments
- Educate patients on proper eyewear care, contact lens usage, and available vision correction options
- Collaborate with optometrists and other healthcare professionals to ensure accurate documentation and compliance with HIPAA regulations
Skills
- Strong knowledge of ophthalmic principles, anatomy of the eye, physiology, and medical terminology
- Experience with optical equipment, laboratory procedures, and medical coding related to eye care services
- Proficiency in EMR systems such as Compulink or comparable electronic health record platforms
- Retail sales experience combined with retail math skills to manage inventory and process transactions efficiently
- Ability to communicate complex medical information clearly to patients of all ages, including pediatrics and senior care populations
- Familiarity with HIPAA regulations to protect patient privacy and confidentiality at all times
- Knowledge of medical billing processes related to optical services and insurance claims processing
