What are the responsibilities and job description for the Intervention Specialist position at West End Neighborhood House?
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist the Case Manager in providing some case management services to youth
- Assume active participatory role in the daily activities of youth including education, recreation, rehabilitation, meal, personal hygiene and maintaining living quarters
- Observe youth’s behavior and adjustment to the program and exchange oral and written reports on those observations
- Establish and maintain appropriate interpersonal relationships with youth to encourage and assist with their social development
- Interprets and teaches facility procedures, rules and disciplinary policies to youth
- Implements facility/campus security procedures including performing unit/room and grounds checks; includes monitoring of high risk youth
- Assists in handling disturbances along with monitoring who enters and exits the facility
- Escorts youth to activities and appointments in and outside of the facility and is responsible for their supervision
- Provides transportation when necessary to support youth in their recreational activities and appointments
- Must be able to work and thrive in a team environment
- Deliver services to clients appropriately, ethically, and timely
- Teaches youth life skills with hands on approach
- Transports clients to job fairs, college campuses, conferences, and other life skill activities when needed
- Maintains reporting standards of program, keeps well-documented records, and ensures that all necessary paperwork is organized in files
- Provide crisis intervention, behavioral health interventions and support services to youth during their time in the program
- Light house cleaning/maintenance and cleaning may be required
- Other duties as assigned
Education and/or Experience
- High School/GED or Bachelor’s degree in Social Work or related Human Service field
- Must provide transcript and course syllabi when requested
- A writing sample may be requested
- Minimum of three (3) years relevant work experience with teenagers and young adults in a social service setting
- Clinical or therapeutic background is a plus
- Experience in a residential setting is a plus
- Case management experience of at least 2 years
- Thorough understanding of the stages of human development, trauma informed care and mental health

- Must not have a criminal background which would cause questions of ability to give constructive guidance to young adults.
- Must possess a current Delaware driver’s license and reliable transportation.
- Understands the position may require some physical abilities.
- Must be able to lift at least 50lbs.
- Cleaning, moving, and or other duties may be necessary to support the youth through transition.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $19.00 - $22.00 per hour
