TITLE: FOOD SERVICE TEAM LEADER 5.5.3 QUALIFICATIONS: 1. Knowledge and demonstrated experience in the production of large volume food preparation. 2. Ability to follow instructions for food service related tasks. 3. Capacity to assume various job related duties requiring moderate physical strength. 4. Ability to pass any required or mandated trainings provided by the employer such as OSHA needed to perform any job related responsibility. 5. Certification of good health signed by a medical professional in order to be appointed. Any further medical review as appropriate through a school appointed physician. 6. A sense of humor and a proven ability to work in a polite and friendly manner with all staff members, students, and with the larger educational community. 7. Such job-related alternatives to the above qualifications as the School Department may find appropriate and acceptable. REPORTS TO: Director of Food Services and/or designee SUPERVISES: All cafeteria workers in their respective school. JOB GOAL: To provide students with healthy lunch options in alignment with the national school lunch program nutritional guidelines. This will take place in a safe, clean, and Board of Health approved environment. PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES (include but are not limited to): 1. Assumes responsibility for food service operations as they apply and/or are assigned to particular schools. 2. Maintains accurate daily records of meals served, monies collected and reconciled, and preparation/deposits of funds at local bank. 3. Ensures that the kitchen is left in good order at the end of each school day. 4. Maintains monthly stockroom inventory. 5. Notifies the Director of Food Services immediately of any equipment failure or improperly functioning equipment. 6. Communicates with the main production kitchen regarding necessary weekly food service supplies. 7. Provides alternative meals for students through available inventories whenever unanticipated shortages occur. 8. Serves foods provided in an appealing manner. 9. Assures the cleaning of all serving areas, dishes, and other paraphernalia related to the production, serving or storing of all foods used. 10. Participates in the assembly of foods such as mixing salads, assembling of sandwiches or heating of precooked foods. Helps and assists other cafeteria workers with joint tasks when other assigned tasks are completed. 12. Performs such other job related tasks and assumes such other responsibilities as may be designated or assigned by the Director of Food Services from time to time. 13. Communicates effectively with the appropriate stakeholders. 14. Ability to work with the following physical and environmental demands described below, which are required to perform the essential functions of the job. a. Physical: Requires periods of physical activity requiring the ability to stand for long periods, walking, climbing, bending, and crawling. The ability to lift, carry and position objects weighing up to fifty (50) pounds. If an object is over thirty (30) pounds, team lifting procedures will be in place. The ability to make swift and responsible decisions in emergency or hazardous situations. The employee must be able to communicate both through speech and hearing. The employee must have the ability to use hands and arms in order to safely operate equipment and perform the required tasks. The employee must have good vision either normally or corrected. b. Environmental: Interior work where the employee may be exposed to loud noise, extremes of heat and cold, and the use of various chemicals, some of which may be hazardous and require special handling. The employee may be required to utilize a ladder on occasion as well as work in confined spaces. Job-related appropriate training will be provided by the employer.
