TITLE: Head Coach (High School) - Girls Lacrosse
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Substitute Teacher Certificate
IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: Assistant Principal for Athletics
SUPERVISES: Assistant Coaches, managers, athletes
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: One (1) Season
FUNCTION: To supervise assistant coaches, monitor the athletic and academic performance of team members, develop and execute comprehensive game and practice plans, account for team equipment, including uniforms and other materials.
EVALUATION: Job performance will be evaluated annually
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Keep abreast of current sport knowledge and coaching techniques in the designated athletic activity and of the governing policies, rules regulations, procedures, and eligibility requirements of the West Deptford.
- Establish all rules and regulations and goals and objectives for the designated athletic program in accordance with the goals and objective of the WestDeptfordSchool District.
- Conduct, as necessary, pre-season, in-season, and post-season meetings with the student-athletes to promote the sport, explain requirements, issue and retrieve the necessary forms for parental permission, physical examination, drug screening, eligibility, and insurance, and to discuss athletic health care, development and training, sportsmanship, and conduct.
- Plan, organize, and manage regularly scheduled practice sessions during the athletic season, emphasizing fundamental skills, team play, strategy, and specific athletic rules.
- Provide athletes and parents with a practice and game schedule. Include appropriate beginning and ending times so the parents know.
- Coordinate and give to the athletic director by the assigned date, all eligibility lists, budget forms (in conformance with West Deptford School District fiscal procedure), and the end-of-the-season report, which includes inventory, athletic award, evaluation, result, and accomplishment records. Return all keys.
- Attend school, league, and state athletic meetings and participate in professional organizations and activities as appropriate to the athletic assignment.
- With the athletic trainer, provide for the safety and welfare of the student-athletes, care for injuries in the appropriate manner, and maintain injury records.
- Issue and retrieve all athletic equipment; arrange for cleaning, inventory, and storage; hold the student-athlete responsible for the care of all district –owned equipment; coordinate with the athletic director the repair and recondition of athletic equipment as needed.
- Promote the total athletic program to the student body, faculty, administration, and public, and provide prominent and timely results to the new media.
- Recommend to the athletic director, and provide input for the scheduling of opponents, officials, facility use, transportation times, and game management procedures.
- Evaluate the athletic program and provide reports and recommendations as input to the athletic director and principal for management decision-making purposes.
- Provide student-athlete counseling when appropriate, inform all student-athletes of the eligibility rules and regulations, and encourage academic achievement.
- Perform other related duties as appropriate to the assignment.
