POSITION SUMMARY:
Instructs students (*Pre-K - elementary) using effective STEAM instruction, integration, and project/problem-based learning activities designed to increase student engagement and achievement. Engages a diverse STEAM community, partners, industry leaders to support and sustain STEAM programs and initiatives. Supports the procurement of STEAM-based grants to support, enhance, and sustain STEAM initiatives in the school. Supports school-based STEAM labs that provide educational opportunities that support STEAM literacy and builds 21st century skills. This position reports to the Principal.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Instructs students, using various teaching methods, such as lecture, audiovisual aids, demonstration and other materials to supplement presentations relative to the specific content field.
Assigns lessons and corrects assignments; administers assessments to evaluate students’ progress, and records results. Maintains discipline in classroom. Supervises behavior outside the classroom (i.e., halls, bus, lunch/cafeteria, rest room duty). Must maintain a culturally responsive and relevant, positive learning environment.
Prepares course outlines and objectives according to curriculum guidelines or state and local requirements.
Conducts parent/teacher conferences to review student’s progress, performance, and behavior problems. Participates in faculty and professional meetings, educational conferences and teacher training workshops.
All other duties, as assigned and required, in order to perform the above services.
KEY JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor's, Master’s, Specialist’s, and/or Doctorate degree in Education required, with a minimum of a 2.50 GPA on a 4.0 scale. Experience with arts integration is preferred.
Minimum of one (1) year of teaching experience preferred.
Execute a focus on student outcomes, instructional impacts and student performances. Makes recommendations or decisions which usually affect the entire department/school.
GaPSC Certification at a level 4 or higher in Middle Grades Math, Middle Grades Science, or Elementary Education required.
Varied; supervisor is available to review established broad objectives; independent judgment is required.
Requires regular, frequent communication with internal school administrative personnel.
Requires regular, frequent communication with different constituencies: external agencies, parents, community etc.
Excellent classroom management required. May be designated as a lead teacher or trainer.
Applies, recommends and implements technology to improve the effectiveness of school operations.
Constantly (Daily) responsible for the welfare of others.
Normal classroom/school setting.
Must be able to stand and walk approximately seven (7) to seven and one-half (7½) hours per day.
Light duty - On most occasions sitting at a desk or table; intermittently sitting, standing, or stooping. Light lifting or carrying 20 lbs. or less.
