SUMMARY:

The Coordinator of Instructional Technology K-12, has responsibility for the integration of instructional and assessment technology tools into the curriculum in grades K-12 through staff development and initiatives that increase student and staff technology skills.

 

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS:

  • The Coordinator of Instructional Technology is responsible to the Director of Information Technology and works with Assistant Superintendent and Education Directors.
  • Works cooperatively with other administrators, supervisors and staff to perform job responsibilities as outlined

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

  1. 12 month position (minimum 1820 hours)
  2. Salary and benefits are as described in the Administrative Compensation Plan of the West Chester Area School District.

QUALIFICATIONS & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

To successfully perform this position, a person must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The qualification requirements listed below represent minimum levels of educational achievement, training, skill and/or ability necessary.

  • College degree required – Education or instructional technology major preferred.                  Masters degree in related fields desirable.
  • PA Instructional Technology Specialist certification preferred; K-12 teaching experience required.
  • Minimum of three to five years experience in instructional computing.
  • Ability to communicate technical information to non-technical personnel and work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.
  • Must possess a valid PA driver’s license.
  • Must be able to hear with 40 decibel loss maximum and see with acuity of 20 inches or less and far acuity of at least 20 feet normal depth perception, field of vision and accommodation. Must be able to reach above and below the waist, walk, and use fingers to pick, feel and grasp objects.  Requires use of both hands for repetitive motions (typing). Some bending and twisting of the body required.  Lifts/carries equipment and papers weighing no more than 50 lbs.  Typical office environment with ability to sit eighty percent (80%) of the workday.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The employee will be required to perform any other position-related duties requested by the supervisor.

  1. Develops and implements technology staff development programs aimed at increasing the use of technology as a tool to enhance teaching, learning and assessment; maintains a list of technology staff development resource people andcoordinates workshops by external presenters; enters information into the staff development database as needed.
  1. Supports technology integration into all curriculum areas K-12; works with administration, supervisory and departmental leaders to develop and implement technology integration and assessment strategies into all curriculum content areas; works directly with teachers to interpret assessment data, develop and model lesson plans, activities, and classroom management techniques involving use of technology to attain educational goals.
  2. Develops and supports a cadre of school-level technology leaders to champion technology integration and identify local needs.
  3. Attends Curriculum Supervisor and Technology Department meetings to facilitate coordination of technology into the curriculum and assessment, as well as resolving related issues.
  4. Coordinates the dissemination, implementation, and updating of technology competencies for K-12 students and professional staff.
  5. Works with media specialists to advance information literacy skills for K-12 and assists in appropriate coordination of these skills with technology competencies.
  6. Develops and maintains a database of all instructional software used in district schools and supports adherence to licensing requirements.
  7. Develops and implements plans to monitor and evaluate appropriate instructional technology use.
  8. Conducts monthly meetings of Technology Advocates and attends Technology Specialist meetings as needed.
  9. Participates in grant writing and other applications and activities related to instructional technology.
  10. Maintains comprehensive understanding of emerging instructional technology issues; maintains technical proficiency.
  11. Assists with planning, implementation, assessment, and presentation of District performance measures.
  12. May be assigned an elementary, secondary, subject specific, or K-12 focus at the discretion of the Director of Information Technology.
