Summary:

The BCBA is a districtwide position to support students who are exhibiting unexpected behaviors in the educational environment. The BCBA will work closely with the special education teachers and school teams to co-create and implement behavior plans for students.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

The employee will be required to be consistently at work and perform any other position-related duties requested by the supervisor.

  • Provide support to special education teachers, school building teams, and central office liaisons in the implementation of Positive Behavior Support Plans (PBSP).
  • Collaborate with treatment teams and provide ongoing feedback. Maintain open communication with treatment teams and individual staff members.
  • Assist in the creation, organization and monitoring of behavior data collection documents.
  • Conduct student/classroom observations as needed.
  • Attend meetings to provide input towards behavior plans and individual student goals.
  • Train and assist staff in collecting, documenting, and data entry of behavioral data and in preparing meaningful summary data in charts and graphs.
  • Complete Functional Behavior Assessments (FBA) and Positive Behavior Support Plans for designated students.
  • Supervise district paraprofessionals who have received their Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) certificate. Maintain supervisory status for all required RBT observation hours.
  • Provide training to staff on principles of behavior modification.
  • Provide paraprofessional and LEA coverage if no other option is available.
  • Other duties as assigned by Supervisor.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

To successfully perform this position, a person must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The qualification requirements listed below represent minimum levels of educational achievement, training, skill and/or ability necessary.

  • Minimum of a master’s degree
  • Certification as a Board-Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA), renew certification every two years and abide by the ethics outline by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB).
  • At least 6 months’ proven experience working with children and adolescents with special needs and/or behavioral analysis.
  • Proficiency in the use of technology for individual communication and research.
  • Possess effective interpersonal skills with the ability to interface diplomatically with other teachers, administrators, parents, students, support staff and outside professional contacts.

 

Qualified candidate will be required to use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls, and to talk and hear; Sit and occasionally be required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel and crouch; Have specific vision abilities, to include close vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus;  Have the ability to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds; and possess effective communication, judgmental, planning and human relations skills, and will be required to work under periods of stress due to the level of the position responsibility.

 

Reporting Relationships:

  • Reports directly to the Behavior Specialist Coordinator.
  • Co-Supervises paraprofessionals who hold a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) certificate. Co-Supervision is defined as:
    • Pupil Services Coordinator: Annual evaluation, assignment, student concerns, professional development, absences, injuries, work year, and all other administrative concerns.
    • Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBA): Day-to-day student specific behavior issues, recommendations of change in behavior plans/FBAs, and daily observation treatment fidelity and/or behavior analytic principals.
    • Coordinator of Behavior Supports: Final approval of RBT competency standards for initial and ongoing certification.
  • Works cooperatively with other administrators, supervisors, staff, parents and others to perform job responsibilities as outlined.

Terms of Employment:

  • 10 months (190) plus up to 10 days at a per diem rate in the summer.
  • Salary (step/level placement) & benefits are as described in the current non-bargaining contract.
  • Starting salaries are determined based on relevant experience, education, and internal equity, and are generally set below the midpoint of the salary range.
