Job Summary

Job Type: Full Time
The Lactation Consultant is a Registered Nurse who, using critical thinking skills, directs, and evaluates patient care activities occurring within her/his assigned area of demonstrated clinical expertise. The LC must have the ability to lead and motivate professional and ancillary staff to develop their breastfeeding practice, knowledge and skill base, while coordinating with other members of the health care team to ensure quality patient care. LC will support plans, programs and schedules as directed by the lead lactation consultant.
Qualifications
EDUCATION
- Minimum: Graduate of an RN program
- Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in nursing
EXPERIENCE:
- 3-5 years clinical experience
- Must have advanced knowledge of perinatal nursing practices, anatomy and physiology, pregnancy, labor, birth, lactation, infant care and clinical breastfeeding issues
- Able to demonstrate exceptional communication, collaboration, teamwork and flexibility
- Serves as role model for delivery of excellent patient care and customer service
REQUIRED CERTIFICATION/LICENSURE/REGISTRATION

- Current Certification by International
- Board of Lactation Consultant Examiners (IBCLC)
- Current Florida RN License
- American Heart Association: BLS; NRP
