What are the responsibilities and job description for the Lead Window Cleaning Technician position at West Austin Window Cleaning?
Fast Track to Leadership
Most window cleaning jobs are exactly what they sound like: show up, clean glass, go home, get a check. This isn't that.
We're looking for one person who wants more than a job. Someone ready to run jobs on their own, train the next person we hire, and get paid a real cut of what they produce instead of a flat wage that never moves.
If you've ever thought "I could run this whole thing better than my boss does," this is your shot to prove it and get paid for it.
About the Role
You'll be the technician clients see when it matters most: the high-end homes and properties across Austin, Bee Cave, Lakeway, Westlake Hills, Barton Creek, and Steiner Ranch where the work has to be done right the first time. You'll run your own route, make judgment calls on the job site, and eventually train and lead a helper or second technician.
This is not a "show up and follow orders" position. It's for someone who wants ownership of their work and is willing to earn the trust that comes with it.
What You'll Do
- Run window cleaning, screen cleaning, and pressure/soft washing jobs independently, start to finish
- Make on-site decisions about approach, safety, and client communication without needing a supervisor present
- Train and lead a helper technician as we grow, and take responsibility for the quality of work that isn't even your hands
- Represent the company as the face our clients trust; professionalism and communication matter as much as the glass
- Track job details, flag issues, and communicate proactively with the office
Pay & Growth
- On-target average: Between $20-$25/hour, paid as 20% commission per job, plus tips
- Commission rate increases with tenure and performance. This isn't a capped hourly job, it's a ladder
- Bonuses for 5-star reviews
- Real path to more responsibility (and more pay) as the company grows past its current size. This is a ground-floor leadership opportunity, not a dead-end route
What We're NOT Looking For
- Someone who needs to be told what to do every day
- Someone who shows up late, complains, or brings the team's energy down
- Someone who wants "a job" and nothing more
What We ARE Looking For
- Someone who's comfortable with physical work outside, in the heat, on ladders, every day, not just when it's convenient
- Someone coachable, even if you have zero window cleaning experience. Attitude and reliability beat experience every time
- Someone who wants to build something, not just clock in
- Valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and the physical ability to lift and carry equipment safely
Bottom Line
We'd rather hire someone with no experience who shows up early and wants to grow, than someone with ten years of experience who's going to complain and show up late. If that's you, if you want a real shot at running your own show and getting paid like it, apply now.
