About You


You are a creative and detail-oriented designer with a passion for contemporary design and a keen eye for color, materials, and trends. With a strong background in product design, you have a proven track record of managing projects from concept to completion, delivering high-quality results that meet or exceed expectations. You thrive in collaborative environments, working seamlessly with cross-functional teams to bring innovative ideas to life. Your portfolio showcases your expertise in visual and product design, demonstrating your ability to create products that connect with users on a deeper level.


This hire must be within commutable distance of our Shanghai or New York City studios. WESSCO proudly supports flexible work.


Responsibilities and Duties


  • Design and Development: Lead the design and development of high-quality amenities and comfort products (amenity bags, cosmetics packaging, bedding, sleepwear, and dinnerware) that align with the latest trends in contemporary design. Collaborate with the sourcing team throughout the product development process, which includes preparing technical drawings, color, and material selection.
  • Client Collaboration: Work closely with clients to understand their needs and translate them into practical design solutions. Provide regular updates and incorporate feedback to ensure client satisfaction.
  • Storytelling and Presentation: Craft compelling narratives around product designs and present concepts to clients and internal stakeholders with clarity and confidence.
  • Technical Documentation: Prepare detailed technical drawings, specifications, and production-ready artwork for manufacturing. Ensure all documentation is accurate and aligns with production standards.
  • Innovation: Stay ahead of industry trends and continuously seek out new materials, technologies, and processes to incorporate into product designs.


Qualifications


Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Product Design, Industrial Design, or a related field is preferred.

Experience:

  • 3-5 years of experience in product design, with a strong portfolio demonstrating expertise in visual and product design.
  • Proven experience managing the product development lifecycle from concept to production.


Skills

  • English: Fluent or Native level 
  • Design Proficiency: Mastery of design software such as Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign), Rhino 3D, KeyShot, and other relevant tools.
  • Technical Expertise: Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, materials, and technical drawing preparation.
  • Project Management: Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
  • Collaboration: Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams, including brand, marketing, and sourcing.
  • Attention to Detail: A keen eye for detail, particularly in color and material selection, ensuring all designs meet high-quality standards.
  • Communication: Strong visual, verbal, and written communication skills, with the ability to present ideas clearly and effectively.


Additional Qualifications (Preferred):

  • Experience creating infographics, diagrams, and illustrative content to support product narratives.
  • Knowledge of current trends in modern design and fashion, especially within the beauty and lifestyle industries.
  • Previous experience in a B2B environment.
  • Photography and video editing skills a plus
