The Wesleyan is a senior living and healthcare community located in Georgetown, Texas, that has been providing personalized care and services to seniors for over 60 years. We are currently looking for an experienced Cook to work full-time within our Assisted Living and Memory Care community of The Wesleyan. Proven experience working as a cook or prep cook in a restaurant, healthcare, education, or senior living environment along with a deep passion for showing others you care through the meals you prepare will be essential to your success as a Cook at The Wesleyan.

*** The shift schedule for this position is 11:00AM-7:30PM varying days of the week, including weekends ***

Essential Job Functions:

• Produce all food items according to designated recipes and/or product directions indicated for preparation, seasoning, cooking, carving, and serving for all menu food items.
• Follow designated recipes and utilize various preparation techniques, including but not limited to cook to order and cook/chill.
• Responsible for preparation of recipes for special diet considerations such as puree and/or mechanical soft diets.
• Safely operate a variety of kitchen equipment, including but not limited to, oven, industrial mixers, tilt skillets, steam jacket kettles, low- and high-pressure steamers, convection steamers, grills, griddles, buffalo choppers, garbage disposals, knives, deep fryers, portion scales, portion control scoops and spoons.
• Present dishes and meals in a visually appealing way.
• Implement proper food handling and storage.
• Responsible for providing prepared food and meals of the highest quality for service to the residents.

Qualifications & Experience:

• High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
• A minimum of 1 - 2 years' of experience as a cook, grill cook, or line cook are required. A combination of professional schooling and experience will be considered.
• Additional course work in any license culinary institution desirable.
• Ability to use basic math skills to complete required forms and schedules.
• Must be able to read, write, and speak English.
• A servant-minded approach to all aspects of the job.
• A passion for working within a senior living and/or assisted living community is a plus!
• Alignment with and enthusiasm about The Wesleyan's culture and core values.
