Title: Nursing Scheduler Reports to: Director of Nursing
Department: Nursing Status: FLSA non-exempt (hourly)
Hours: M-F, 8-5 with some flexibility for presence on 1st & 2nd shifts
JOB SUMMARY
The Nursing Scheduler position is responsible for creating and overseeing the nursing schedule.
- Maintains nursing staff schedule consistent with staffing model
- Provides daily staffing sheets for Hester & Thorne
- Contacts staff to fill open spots in a positive and fair manner
- Inputs and maintains schedule in software
- Assists with PBJ report / review for accuracy
- Manages PTO requests based on guidelines provided by supervisor
- Creates an atmosphere of team building while providing guidance as needed to nursing staff related to scheduling guidelines
- Follows up with staff regarding missed or incorrect time clock punches (tied to scheduling)
- Works closely with nursing supervisors, Administrator, DON and ADON to ensure appropriate staffing is planned for census and acuity
- Experience of at least 5 years as a healthcare scheduler with 3 of those years in senior living communities
- Some college experience preferred.
- Must have full knowledge of computers and the ability to prepare reports
- Must be teachable while being a problem-solver.
- Must work with the established guidelines and staffing benchmarks.
- Must be highly organized, detail-oriented, and have strong time-management skills
- Must be able to communicate effectively with a diverse group of people
- Must have the ability to work independently with little supervision
- Must be able to establish parameters and boundaries to carry out policies and procedures.
