Job Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Assistant Teacher to join our team as a floater temporarily. This is a full-time temporary position in a childcare setting from June 1, 2026 through September 30, 2026. Hours are typically 9am-6pm Monday through Friday. Wesley Kids Childcare & Preschool, a ministry of First United Methodist Church, is a 5 Star FOCUS program located in downtown Albuquerque. As an Assistant Teacher, you will play a vital role in supporting the lead teacher in providing a nurturing and educational environment for our students.
Responsibilities:
- Assist the lead teacher in implementing lesson plans and educational activities
- Support students in their learning and development, both individually and in small groups
- Provide care and supervision for children, ensuring their safety at all times
- Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment
- Collaborate with the lead teacher to maintain open communication with parents/guardians
- Assist with classroom management, including maintaining order
- Help create a stimulating and engaging learning environment
- Support students' social-emotional development through positive interactions
Qualifications:
- Experience working with children, preferably in an early childhood education setting
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
- Ability to effectively collaborate with colleagues and parents/guardians
- Knowledge of classroom management techniques
- Familiarity with early childhood education principles and practices
- A passion for working with young children and helping them reach their full potential
- A degree or coursework in early childhood education is preferred but not required
Required Qualifications:
- Must be 18 years old.
- Must have GED or high school diploma.
- Must be able to pass a background check.
