Steward/Prep Cook - Part time

Position Summary:

We are seeking a dedicated and hardworking Steward/Prep Cook to support our kitchen operations. This dual-role position is responsible for maintaining kitchen cleanliness, supporting food preparation, and ensuring kitchen equipment is clean and ready for use. The ideal candidate is a team player with a strong work ethic and a passion for food service.

Key Responsibilities:

Steward Duties:

• Wash dishes, pots, pans, and utensils by hand or using commercial dishwashing equipment.
• Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of kitchen areas, including floors, walls, and equipment.
• Dispose of trash and recyclables in a safe and timely manner.
• Ensure all cleaning supplies are properly stored and stocked.
• Follow health and safety regulations in all cleaning procedures.

Prep Cook Duties:

• Assist with basic food preparation tasks (e.g., chopping vegetables, preparing ingredients, portioning food).
• Ensure prep station is set up and stocked with necessary supplies.
• Label and store food items according to safety and hygiene guidelines.
• Assist chefs and cooks with other tasks as needed during service.
• Maintain a clean and organized workstation at all times.

Qualifications:

• Previous kitchen experience preferred but not required; training will be provided.
• Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team.
• Basic knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices.
• Able to work in a fast-paced, physically demanding environment.
• Must be able to stand, bend, and lift up to 50 pounds for extended periods.

Working Conditions:

• Exposure to hot and cold temperatures, steam, and cleaning chemicals.
• Flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
