About Us:
Wert Bookbinding began in a one-car garage in Linglestown, Pennsylvania in 1960 by John Wert. His wife, Kathryn, helped with binding and paperwork. As the business began to grow, John focused full-time on this new venture and over the next 10 years, Wert Bookbinding moved into several new buildings and increased staff to over 40 employees.
The business was growing and the future looking bright until John passed away in 1971 leaving the company with many decisions to make. Johns oldest son, Gary, took over the reins and continued this growth. Wert Bookbinding faced trials once more in 1972, when flooding caused by hurricane Agnes put the entire bindery under seven feet of water. However, we were able to recover from these years of adversity and become a stronger business and family.
Middle son, Rod joined this growing family business as Vice President, equipment manager and there was more growth during the late 1970s and early 1980s. The youngest son, Scott joined the family business as Vice President, plant manager and specialized in hand foil stamping. In 1984, Wert Bookbinding moved to its current location in Grantville, PA.
Kathryn passed away a few years ago and Gary, Rod and Scott are carrying on the family business.
Today, Wert Bookbinding continues to provide quality products and services to libraries, printers, and individuals. We strive to use cutting edge technology and materials along with traditional methods of our longstanding craft to provide you, our customer, with the finest products in our industry
