Administrative Duties And Responsibilities

  • Direct onsite management of instructional personnel to include approval of timesheets and assisting the Regional Training Manager with interviewing, hiring, training, disciplining and termination of associates as applicable.
  • Assist the Regional Training Manager with the implementation of instructors' daily student assignments to maintain ratios, balance training, and maximize use of equipment.
  • Assist the Regional Training Manager with the implementation of approved daily training schedule and curriculum.
  • In the absence of the Regional Training Manager, complete all assigned documentation and student attendance records timely and accurately.
  • In the absence of the Regional Training Manager, assure that accurate data entries in applicable company databases are updated daily or as needed.
  • Equipment file maintenance and review on a daily basis. Update maintenance files for equipment as
  • assigned by the Regional Training Manager.
  • Assure equipment entries in Salesforce® are accurate and up to date.
  • Assist vehicle inspection, pad, and road training instructors as needed.
  • Complete any required student tardy or disciplinary forms.
  • Assist Human Resources, Curriculum and Compliance, and the Regional Training Manager with implementing the on boarding process of new instructors.
  • Regular, reliable and predictable work attendance is an essential function of this position.
  • All other duties and tasks as assigned by management.
  • Approximately 70% of work duties will be completed on the training pad/road and 30% will be completed as administrative tasks. Training pad and road include the following:

Training Pad Duties And Responsibilities

  • Ensure all vehicles receive a pre-trip inspection prior to any and all training activities.
  • Ensure instructors perform formal demonstrations of each curriculum component utilizing Train the Trainer Manual (TTT) best practices during pad instruction.
  • Monitor each instructor's teaching process to ensure PTI and backing instruction are consistent with TTT best practices (may also include road training when deemed necessary).
  • Responsible for the accurate and timely reporting of students' progress or issues performing training maneuvers.
  • Assist and supervise instructors to ensure all training records are completed daily in Company required format.
  • Assist the Regional Training Manager in making decisions and outlining specific training needs for students who are not proficient in the areas of PTI, backing, or road skills, or in need of making up missed training time.
  • Assist the Regional Training Manager in implementing Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) policy to include accurate and detailed information filled out on SAP forms, issuing written counseling statements to students to encourage progress and discussing the action plan for continuing training.
  • Maintain appearance and condition of cones and/or lines.
  • Maintain appearance and condition of tractors and trailers used during backing training.
  • Daily DVIRs completed to include ending miles, fuel level, and DEF level. Daily draining of air tanks.
  • Ensure all safety zones are marked properly, clearly identified, and properly managed.
  • Implementation of all safety practices on the training pad as stated in the TTT manual and ensuring applicable policies and procedures are followed.
  • Responsible for the continuous training and evaluation of all instructors to ensure they are provided the assistance and opportunities to be successful in their job duties.
  • Responsible for cross-training all instructors for proficiency in all required curriculum based on TTT.
  • Responsible for instructors' starting and ending scheduled work time including breaks and lunch per established policy and ensuring minimal interruption to student training throughout the day. Must report any and all inaccuracies or discrepancies to the Regional Training Manager immediately.

Road Duties And Responsibilities

  • Assist the Regional Training Manager with the implementation of instructors' daily student assignments to maintain ratios, balance training, and maximize use of equipment.
  • Assist the Regional Training Manager with the implementation of approved daily training schedules and curriculum.
  • Strictly follow all approved road routes and lesson plans.
  • Monitor each Instructor's teaching process as necessary to ensure road instructions are consistent with TTT best practices and established lesson plans. Report all inaccuracies are reported to the Regional Training Supervisor.
  • Ensure all vehicles receive a pre-trip inspection prior to going on road and instructors are directing students to drop and hook trucks and trailers at the beginning and end of each training day.
  • Responsible for the accurate and timely reporting of students' progress or issues during road training.
  • Supervise and assist instructors to ensure all training records are completed daily.
  • Assist the Regional Training Manager in making decisions and outlining specific training needs for students not proficient in areas of road instruction or in need of making up missed training time.
  • Assist the Regional Training Manager in implementing Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) policy to include accurate and detailed information filled out on SAP forms, issuing written counseling statements to students to encourage progress and discussing the action plan for continuous training.
  • Appearance and condition of tractors and trailers used for road training.

  • Daily PTI and Post-Trips are performed timely and correctly.
  • Implementation of all safety practices for road training as stated in the TTT manual.
  • Responsible for the continuous training and evaluation of all instructors to ensure they are provided the assistance and opportunities to be successful in their job duties.
  • Responsible for cross-training all instructors for proficiency in all road training areas.
  • Responsible for instructors' start, end and scheduled breaks being timely with minimal interruption to student training time.

  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.

QUALIFICATIONS: Current Class A Commercial Driver's License with a valid U.S. DOT Interstate Physical and verified negative U.S. DOT Drug Screen. Minimum High School graduate or GED, with a minimum of three (3) years verifiable over-the-road driving experience. Prior CDL training or management experience preferred. Ability to obtain instructor's license from state agencies as applicable. Ability to effectively communicate using both verbal and written skills and to perform the duties of managing and directing various assigned areas of the training department in accordance with company policy.
