What are the responsibilities and job description for the Registered Nurse, Peri-Operative, Full Time position at Wentworth Surgery Center, LLC?
Join the WSC team. The WSC is a busy ambulatory multi-specialty center with a positive working environment and staff culture. The center is currently looking to add a Full Time peri-operative nurse to our same day surgery unit. The Peri-Operative Nurse is responsible for patient admission to the Surgery Center and recovery care following surgery or a procedure through patient discharge. This nurse is responsible for the achievement of patient outcomes through implementation of a nursing care plan and in accordance with the mission of the Surgery Center.
Education, Training, Experience:
1. Current Registered Nurse Licensure with the State of New Hampshire.
2. Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
3. BS in nursing is preferred.
4. A minimum of one-year experience in PACU, Emergency or ICU.
5. One-year Pre-operative experience in surgery hospital or hospital setting, preferred.
6. BLS, and ACLS required, if not currently ACLS certified, certification must be obtained within 9 months of date of hire.
7. Knowledgeable of Electronic Medical Records Systems.
Responsibilities:
1. Prepare pre-operatively for patient admission according to policies and procedures.
2. Prepare and care for post-operative patients according to the standards set forth by WSC.
3. Demonstrate knowledge of drug usage, their actions and side effects, interaction with anesthesia agents and expected patient outcomes.
4. Recognize emergency situations; respond quickly and efficiently following policies and procedures, ACLS and physician orders of emergency plan to prevent adverse patient outcomes.
5. Maintain knowledge and adhere to policies/procedure care standards for Pre-operative care.
6. Ensure patient meets admit requirements before patient goes in for surgery.
7. Provide verbal instructions to family or responsible party during pre-operative period regarding the entire surgical experience.
8. Document that assessments, interventions and patient outcomes are performed according to policy and procedure for Wentworth Surgery Center standards.
9. Restock supplies/equipment in area to maintain adequate levels for patient care.
10. Check medications for expiration dates. (Supplies/medications are rotated so that outdates are at a minimum.)
11. Demonstrate continued competence in assessing, treating, and caring for individuals based upon age-specific needs utilizing a developmental perspective.
12. Demonstrate appropriate knowledge and competence of designated skills identified for position.
13. Perform appropriate nursing duties during procedures that pertain to pain management using current nursing standards.
14. Complete all documentation to ensure the availability of accurate and up to date information in accordance with established standards.
15. Adhere to established Wentworth Surgery Center safety requirements and procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
16. Demonstrate the safe operation of equipment and machinery and follows procedures for reporting and correcting an unsafe situation.
17. Demonstrate the importance of continuing education to the performance of responsibilities and growth in profession.
18. Communicate patient information to assure confidentiality and continuity of care.
19. Interact with all patients, families, visitors, and fellow employees in a mature, responsible manner to ensure a positive and professional environment.
