Staff Engineer, AMESBURY, MA

Wentworth Partners & Associates, Inc. is an architectural and engineering consulting/design corporation focused on complete design solutions. We are a third-generation firm with our origins dating back to 1906 in Boston, MA, renamed and incorporated in January 2009 to reflect the current partners’ alma mater. Our practice encompasses a mix of project types including, but not limited to, residential, commercial, industrial, municipal, educational, agricultural, and institutional. We are involved in every facet of construction engineering from building inspections to multi-story analysis to road & bridge design to historic compliance. Our firm provides structural, geotechnical, civil, and bridge engineering services to numerous client types including developers, architects, contractors, and industrial and government [public] partners. We engage in all aspects of permitting, from local to state to federal, and often present at public forums and/or committee meetings to convey the particulars or needs of a project or proposal.

JOB SUMMARY

We are seeking a Staff Engineer with a professional focus on Structural Engineering. In working with our well-established team, the engineer will play a vital role in the development of the future growth of the firm. The candidate will join and manage the design of a diverse range of structural engineering projects in a team-oriented environment. RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform engineering research, analysis, and design for structural engineering projects throughout New England.
  • Work with private developers in the design of new, or the renovation of existing, building designs using steel, wood, masonry, and concrete.
  • Conduct structural observations of residential and commercial properties to evaluate structural deficiencies.
  • Represent the firm at design review meetings with the client.
  • Interaction with professional and technical staff to meet client deadlines and deliverable expectations.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering [required]
  • Successful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering Exam (FE) [required]
  • Strong math/physics skills [required]
  • Strong coding skills [required]
  • Strong writing skills to support technical reporting [required]
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office or Google Docs, especially spreadsheet creation [required]
  • Proficiency in Mathcad and/or MATLAB [preferred]
  • Proficiency in STAAD and/or RISA [preferred]
  • The ability to work independently [required]
  • Responsible/Ethical decision-making regarding client interaction and conduct [required]
  • Preparation of construction drawings and specifications [required]
  • Excellent time management and organization skills, including the demonstrated ability to prepare quality work products for multiple projects on time and within budget with critical path problem solving [required]
  • Follows proper procedures and maintains cordial relationships with co-workers, clients, sub-consultants, contractors, etc. [required]
  • A valid U.S. driver’s license and the ability to travel to job sites as required [required]

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $64K to $76K based on candidate’s qualifications and references.
