Job Description

Overview of the Position: Coordinates the operation of Quality, certifications and regulations required by the department. Plans, directs, or coordinates the work activities and resources necessary for attaining corporate and departmental goals in accordance with cost, quality, time and quantity specifications.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Creation and management of PMA Inspection Plans together with Engineering
  • Working in conjunction with Engineering
    • Design review approvals
    • Support product conformities
  • Nonconformity investigations, to include NCMs, PQEs, CCRs, etc.
  • Development of AS9102 First Article Inspection requirements
  • Assist with review of certification packages for PMA Pre-Approvals
  • Assist with ongoing technical training of PMA Inspectors
  • Assist in conducting internal quality audits
  • Participate in SOP revisions as needed to support continuous improvement
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

  • High degree of organizational and problem solving skills
  • Ability to think and work independently
  • Basic understanding of lean and Six Sigma performance measurements and Lean Manufacturing concepts.
  • Ability to process map, create and modify procedures, instructions and training documents.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs such as Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, and Access.
Requirements

Education/Experience Requirements: Bachelor's degree in the Sciences, Business, Engineering or other technical fields and five years of related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience. GD&T experience, ability to read engineering drawings. Experience with standard inspection equipment including micrometers, calipers, height gauges, ring/pin gauges, optical comparator, etc. is preferred.

Previous experience with Aerospace Regulations specifically 14 CFR Part 21 (Certification Procedures for Products and Articles), ISO9000 series, AS9100, AS9102 is desired.

Previous experience with Quality Assurance in aerospace/aviation is desired.

Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret professional journals, business periodicals, technical procedures, or government regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. Must be able to effectively communicate any problems they encounter with upper management, suppliers, and customers.

Mathematical Skills: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, proportions, percentages, commissions, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply statistical tools such as standard deviation, chi-square tests, distribution analysis, advanced algebra, and geometry.

Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with abstract and concrete variables.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

  • Is occasionally required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl; and lift up to 25 pounds.
  • Vision Requirements:
    • Minimum 20/25 corrected vision.
    • Pass Color Vision eye exam.
  • Is regularly required to sit and use hands to finger, handle, or feel.
  • Is frequently required to talk or listen.
  • Works in moderate noise levels.
  • Minimal travel required.
