Job Description

Overview of the Position:

The Calibration Technician has the responsibility and authority to perform assigned tasks in support of the PHS Calibration program, ensuring flow of work to support Operations and quality of workmanship and documentation to mitigate risk for the company.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform scheduled checks on all inspection tools and precision test equipment used by the repair station to ensure that they are maintained current with calibration recall list.
  • Work with PHS Engineering to develop and calibrate PHS Tools and Test Equipment.
  • Strong organizational, documentation, and detail skills; Responsible for maintaining Calibration Asset Log and managing asset workflow.
  • Maintain Calibration Environmental Control and ensure proper tagging and identification of all parts and components, per established Quality Procedures as required.
  • Identifying external sources for calibrations and maintaining good relationships.
  • Coordinate outsourcing of calibrated assets requiring external calibration, which may include obtaining quotes, issuing requisitions for Purchase or Repair Orders, delivery to shipping, and verifying results / condition of materials received. Following up as needed to avoid delay.
  • Other duties may also be assigned.

Other Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Technical Ability - Minimum of 3 years related experience. Prefer experience with 14 CFR 145 requirements.
  • Metrology background with good understanding of the science of measurement regarding range, accuracy, and uncertainty when calibrating for length, mass, time, current and temperature.
  • Strong Electrical skills - good understanding of electrical theory and applications involving standard and advanced electrical equipment.
  • Interpersonal Skills - Focuses on solving conflict, not blaming; Remains open to others' ideas and tries new things.
  • Planning/Organizing - Prioritizes and plans work activities; Uses time efficiently; is able to multi-task and be able to change priorities as required by customer driven demands.
  • Quantity - Meets productivity standards as required; Completes work in timely manner; Strives to increase productivity; Works quickly.
  • Safety and Security - Observes safety and security procedures; Determines appropriate action beyond guidelines; Reports potentially unsafe conditions; Uses equipment and materials properly.

  • Computer Skills: Intermediate or better skills in use of Microsoft Excel. Basic skills also required with Word, Outlook, with adaptability and ability to learn other business-related software.
Requirements

Education Requirements: 3 years of related experience or some combination of education and experience is possible depending on experience.

Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret federal regulations, customer, engineering drawings, manufacturer's maintenance manuals and sketches as required. Additional documents such as safety rules and procedure manuals as required. The ability to utilize inspection type measuring tools. Ability to accurately and effectively document work according to forms and procedures.

Mathematical Skills Ability to add, subtracts, multiply, and divides in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
