Beginning the 2026-2027 School Year

The HVAC & More Trades Instructor is responsible for teaching high school students at Wenatchee Valley Tech Center in a hands-on, systems-based construction trades program (HVAC, Electrical, Controls, and plumbing). Instruction must be delivered in a safe, orderly, and well-maintained learning environment that reflects current industry standards.

The instructor will participate in curriculum development with an emphasis on integrated instruction, alignment of technical competencies with academic learning standards, and preparation for postsecondary education, apprenticeships, and entry-level employment. The instructor will also collaborate with postsecondary partners to develop articulation agreements and incorporate emerging technologies relevant to the construction and building systems industries.

REQUIRED: Washington State Career and Technical Education Teacher Certificate or meet qualifications to obtain one (requires a minimum of 6000 hours of work experience in HVAC and/or related industries). Minimum 3 years current successful experience

RESPONSIBILITIES

I. General

A. Build and foster partnerships with industry, labor, and community stakeholders.
B. Attend and actively participate in advisory committee meetings.
C. Supervise and support student work-based learning opportunities, including job shadows and internships.
D. Establish and maintain cooperative professional relationships as a collaborative team member
E. Implement equivalency competencies within the program
F. Able to work an additional 13 days during summer school.
G. Willing to earn a CTE teaching certificate.
H. Maintain open lines of communication with students, parents, and colleagues
I. Demonstrate innovation and commitment to continuous improvement in education
J. Participate in ongoing professional development to maintain current industry knowledge
K. Maintain a strong commitment to student success
L. Demonstrate respect for cultural diversity and commitment to serving all students
M. Implement Section 504 and ADA requirements for students with disabilities

II. Physical Demands

The physical demands described are representative of those required to perform the essential functions of this industry position. Reasonable accommodations may be made.

The instructor regularly sits, stands, walks, reaches, uses hands, and communicates verbally. The position frequently requires stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling. The instructor must be able to lift up to 10 lbs regularly, 25 lbs frequently, and 50 lbs occasionally. Vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
