DESCRIPTION: Opportunity to support classroom teachers in helping Elementary students with reading and/or math skills. Provide strategies for teaching and supporting students in the literacy skills needed to learn to read and comprehend. Collaborate with teachers individually to identify the literacy needs of students, to set learning goals and targets, and to problem solve to develop best practices for continuous academic growth of students in literacy and math. Attend professional development to enhance knowledge of literacy and math. Maintain and submit accurate and up-to-date management records of the progress of all students. Perform other duties and responsibilities related to literacy as assigned by the supervisor. Participate in district team meetings. Comply with funding source regulations. Other duties as assigned. Teach English as a Second Language in grades K-5. Plan, implement, and evaluate classroom instruction and activity programs consistent with building and district curriculum such as Wonders ELD and thematic GLAD units. Provide for individual needs of Newcomers, Entering, Emerging, Developing, Expanding, Bridging and Reaching EL students and Exited EL students. Provide ELD support to students as needed. Act as liaison between school and Special Programs in a role of Migrant and BIlingual Facilitator, completing building level program and grant requirements such as intervention reporting and monitoring exited EL students and Title III students. Provide and oversee specialized instruction and appropriate interventions for students that are learning English utilizing effective, assessment driven, research-based strategies such as GLAD. Administer specific, appropriate assessments to provide diagnosis and recommendations for students not performing at grade level. Provide specialized instruction and appropriate interventions for students that are continuing to learn English across content. Work collaboratively with administrators, instructional coaches, grade level PLCs, SPED teachers, para-educators, Student Study Team, and parents to provide direction and expertise for supporting and implementing reading, writing, listening, and speaking best practices. Participate as an active member of the Student Study Team in a resource and advocate capacity. Coordinate student programs with basic education and other special programs to provide successful and inclusionary programs that adhere to state and federal rules and regulations. Facilitate, orchestrate and administer WIDA assessments. Comply with funding source regulations. Participate in appropriate activities such as PAC nights and support programs and building/district in-service education programs. Attend building/district meetings and conferences as required. Other related duties.
QUALIFICATIONS: Current and Valid Washington State Teacher Certification with ESL/ELL endorsement required. Experience working with small groups of students and ELLs. Strong background in successful literacy instructions. Ability to use assessment data to drive instruction. Ability to analyze and communicate student assessment results. Demonstrate effective presentation skills. Demonstrated ability to successfully work as a member of a collaborative team. Demonstrate willingness to advance ELD skills and knowledge. Attendance and punctuality are important functions of this position.
