What You’ll Do
Design and Program Automation Systems
- Interpret customer equipment lists, flow diagrams, and functional requirements to design control systems that meet scope and safety standards.
- Create and test PLC control logic (primarily Allen-Bradley / Rockwell).
- Design, animate, and test HMI graphics using Wonderware InTouch and Ignition, ensuring intuitive operator interfaces and alarm functionality.
Test, Troubleshoot, and Support
- Simulate and validate all PLC and HMI functionality prior to quality control hand-off.
- Assist in final system verification during quality control and support system startup on-site as needed (light travel).
- Document your work clearly, from schematics and IO lists to logic descriptions and change logs.
Collaborate to Get it Right
- Work closely with fellow engineers, project managers, and our field service team to ensure project requirements are met on time and on spec.
- Participate in customer training sessions or post-installation support when required.
- Communicate status and blockers proactively—your updates help keep projects on track.
Work with Discipline and Consistency
- Follow internal standards for PLC/HMI development to ensure consistency across projects and teams.
- Contribute to continuous improvement efforts in code quality, tools, and documentation practices.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, or related field preferred. Equivalent technical training or experience also considered.
- 1–3 years of experience in control system design, PLC programming, and HMI development preferred—but we’ll invest in the right engineer with strong potential.
Skills & Tools
- Strong working knowledge of Allen-Bradley PLCs (SLC, CompactLogix, ControlLogix).
- Experience with Wonderware InTouch and/or Ignition HMI platforms.
- General familiarity with SQL, VB scripting, and additional programming in C# or Python is a plus.
- Understanding of industrial field devices and their interface with control systems.
