The Shipping/ Receiving Technician is primarily responsible for the shipping of patient prescriptions and ensuring the safe shipping and handling of the pharmaceuticals. All other company shipping needs are also handled by the shipping department. This position assists with the receiving and stocking of medication shipments. This position may also assist with other technician duties in the department. Additionally, this position acts as a courier to deliver selected prescriptions locally to our hospital advocates in Columbia.
Responsibilities(major functions and accountabilities)
Verifies and keeps records on incoming and outgoing shipments and prepares items for shipment.
Determines method of shipment, utilizing knowledge of shipping procedures, routes, and rates.
Packages medications in appropriate bags or boxes in preparation for shipping
Inserts items into packaging using ice packs, fillers, and protective padding as required.
Affixes shipping labels on packages and any other identifying shipping information.
Attaches identifying information and shipping instructions onto packages and mail.
Posts weights and shipping charges, and affixes postage.
Unpacks and examines incoming shipments, rejects damaged items, records shortages, and provides this information to the Inventory Manager.
Routes items to departments.
Examines outgoing shipments to ensure shipments meet specifications.
Maintains inventory of shipping materials and supplies.
Use hand truck to move, convey, or hoist shipments from shipping-and-receiving area to storage area.
May direct others in preparing outgoing and receiving incoming shipments.
Unpacks incoming prescription shipments, rejects damaged items, records shortages and communicates discrepancies (communicates delivery date, receiving dates, packing slips)

Manage expiration dates monthly
Rotate product according to date
Manage OOS and report to Inventory Manager and PIC
Log, remove and sort expired product for inventory removal and destruction
Assist in inventory integrity (walk shelves/pull forward/replenish stock)
Keeps log of Fridge temperatures daily.
Keeps log of generator runtime each Friday.
Serves as courier for designated locations.
Assist with other technician duties as specified in the pharmacy technician job description.
Skill in the use of computers and related software applications.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work well with fellow employees.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications(list the minimum education, formal training, skills and experience required)
High School diploma
Licensure with the S. C. Board of Pharmacy as Pharmacy Technician
State and PTCB certification
Valid South Carolina drivers license and clean driving record
Prior shipping experience preferred
