Engineering Technician - Distribution, Energy

Welty Energy, an affiliate of Welty, is a professional services company specializing in program and project management, transmission line and distribution engineering, substation engineering and construction oversight on transmission, substation and distribution projects ranging in voltages from 4kV to 765kV.Headquartered in Akron, OH, and working nationally, Welty Energy currently manages approximately $500 million in construction projects for electric utilities in the Midwest and Northeast regions of the U.S.Welty Energy is looking to add a Distribution Engineering Technician to our team! As a Distribution Line Engineer, you will support projects as part of a team of Distribution line engineers and designers to provide design services for our utility clients. This role is expected to work near our client sites in Eastern Pennsylvania mirroring EST working hours. The role may be considered for a remote position for the right candidate.Day to day, you may:Prepare construction plan documents as required per project.Perform analysis/modeling of wood, steel, concrete, and ductile iron poles.Provide technical assistance to the Welty Project Management Team as requested.Verify projects are following all applicable client standardsUtilize client software to manage drawings checked out by WeltyPerform site visits when necessaryConsult on internal projects when requested by the PM, Portfolio Manager, or Executive Vice PresidentPerform Quality checks to ensure project quality and project completion before submitting projectPerform Electrical Calculations (Load ratings, Transformer Sizing, etc.)Be the main contact for team questions and technical issuesTrain new hires on software, engineering/construction processes, types of equipment, etc.Ideally you will possess the following:Associate's degree in drafting or equivalent technical program.2 years of experience designing distribution projects utilizing AutoCAD and/or DDS (Distribution Design Studio).Relevant experience on distribution design, focused on 12kV to 34.5kV preferred.Strong written and verbal communication skills.Effective organizational skills.Be able to travel 15-30% of the time based on business needs.See our Culture video here to learn more about what makes Welty Energy such a great place to work for!
