Role Description
This is a full-time on-site role for a Senior Director - Business Development, located in Bangalore Urban. The Senior Director will lead new business development initiatives, formulate and execute business planning activities, generate new leads, and manage key accounts. Additionally, the role involves negotiating contracts and ensuring strong, client-focused relationships. The candidate will oversee and strategize to drive growth and achieve business objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Business Development
- Identify, target, and pursue new CRO / Pharma sponsor prospects.
- Manage the full sales cycle — lead generation, outreach, RFP/RFI responses, proposal development, negotiating contracts, closing deals.
- Maintain and grow relationships with existing clients; upsell or expand scope of services.
- Monitor competitor activity, market trends, pricing, and service demands.
Cross-Functional Liaison
- Work closely with operations (India team) to ensure proposals are realistic, deliverable, and aligned with client expectations.
- Ensure smooth handover from sales to project delivery; ensure client satisfaction
- Coordinate with finance / legal for contract terms, pricing, compliance issues.
Metrics, Forecasting & Reporting
- Set and meet revenue / sales targets / quotas.
- Prepare sales forecasts, pipelines, reports; track KPI’s (lead conversion, deal size, sales cycle time, churn / retention).
- Analyze performance and revise strategy where needed.
Leadership & Growth
- Mentor / support junior BD / sales staff.
- Develop processes / best practices for sales effectiveness.
Required Qualifications & Experience
- Minimum 7–10 years in sales / business development roles preferably with CRO / Pharma services / life sciences outsourcing. Role must include selling services (not just products) to sponsors or CROs in the US.
- Established relationship with CXO's in pharma / CROs.
- Familiarity with clinical trial phases, biometrics / data management / biostatistics offerings (or closely related). Understanding of regulatory, quality, and compliance issues.
- A track record of delivering new business, meeting or exceeding sales targets, negotiating contracts.
- Bachelor’s degree required (Life Sciences, Business, or related). MBA or equivalent is a plus.
