What are the responsibilities and job description for the Registered Nurse (RN) - Surgical Services position at Wellstar Health System?
The Surgical Services Registered Nurse (RN) provides safe, high-quality, patient-centered care across the full perioperative (Peri-Op) continuum. This role supports patients in Pre-Op, Operating Room (OR), Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU), Pre-Admission Testing (PAT), Endoscopy, and other procedural or surgical service areas, based on experience and unit needs.
Pay: $32–$44/hour up to $5/hour differential
Incentives: Large sign-on bonus available for select locations

Key Responsibilities
Patient Care & Clinical Practice
- Perform comprehensive patient assessments and implement the nursing process (assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation)
- Deliver individualized, evidence-based care to surgical patients
- Monitor patient condition and respond appropriately to changes
- Maintain patient safety and infection prevention standards
- Ensure accurate and timely documentation
Collaboration & Communication
- Communicate effectively with the interdisciplinary surgical team
- Participate in shift reports, case reviews, and care coordination
- Support a respectful, team-oriented clinical environment
Education Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program (Required)
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
Licensure & Certifications (Required Upon Hire Unless Otherwise Noted)
- Active RN license (Georgia or Compact State)
- BLS
- ACLS
- PALS
Experience
- Minimum 5 years of direct patient care nursing experience preferred
- Prior PeriOp, OR, PACU, PAT, Pre-Op or surgical services experience strongly preferred
