Job Summary

The MRI Technologist is responsible for performing magnetic resonance imaging procedures, ensuring patient safety, and maintaining high standards of patient care. This role requires effective communication and cooperation with patients, physicians, and team members to deliver exceptional imaging services.

• Education: Associate degree or Certificate from a two-year college, university, or accredited certification program.


• Licensure/Certification: ARRT registered or equivalent MRI program licensing; BLS certification must be obtained within four months of hire and maintained thereafter.


• Experience: Minimum of two years in a related field.

• Working knowledge of medical imaging exams.


• Understanding of electronic medical records.


• Ability to multitask effectively.


• Strong teamwork and accountability.


• Professional demeanor and excellent communication skills.


• Flexibility to adapt to changing situations and requirements.


• Capable of working independently with limited supervision.

The MRI Technologist will provide care tailored to the specific needs of patients, including those from diverse populations such as pediatric and geriatric groups. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Perform MRI procedures, utilizing and building protocols.


• Screen patients for any contraindications and follow safety protocols in accordance with ACR and facility standards.


• Interview and educate patients on imaging procedures, addressing concerns with courtesy and professionalism.


• Ensure a safe environment by explaining safety protocols and monitoring for hazardous materials.


• Maintain active monitoring of patients throughout the imaging process, both visually and verbally.


• Operate various equipment necessary for daily duties and patient care.


• Maintain cleanliness and orderliness in the workplace to promote safety.


• Report and maintain the status of imaging equipment, while assisting in inventory management.


• Perform related tasks in other departments, as needed, including CT and X-ray duties.

This position involves frequent standing, walking, sitting, pushing, pulling, reaching, lifting, and some repetitive actions. The work environment may expose the technologist to radiation.
