CT/Rad Technologist

Job Summary

The CT/Rad Technologist is responsible for performing complex imaging tasks using X-ray and CT scanners in adherence to radiation safety protocols. This role includes patient interaction, image processing, and collaboration with radiologists to ensure quality diagnostic imaging.

• Associates Degree or Certificate from an accredited two-year college, university, or certificate program.


• ARRT registered or registry eligible with a state of Maine license.


• BLS certification must be obtained within four months of hire and maintained thereafter.


• CT license must be obtained within one year of hire.

• Proficient understanding of medical imaging procedures.


• Familiarity with electronic medical records.


• Strong multitasking abilities.


• Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently.


• Accountability and professionalism in all tasks.


• Willingness to learn new duties and applicable software.

• Execute imaging tasks involving X-ray and CT scanners following established radiation safety measures.


• Position patients correctly for imaging while utilizing appropriate immobilization and protective equipment.


• Assist radiologists with imaging procedures, including the administration of contrast agents.


• Evaluate images for technical quality and ensure proper sequencing and labeling.


• Manage clerical responsibilities, including charging for procedures and supplies.


• Dispense oral contrast to patients prior to CT scans.


• Operate power injectors for contrast media as required.


• Maintain accurate records of patient and imaging data.


• Explain procedures to patients, ensuring they understand the process.


• Monitor accessory equipment during procedures and assist with fluoroscopic tasks.


• Critically assess and ensure high-quality film and image standards.


• Utilize PACS systems for image management and distribution.


• Demonstrate flexibility to support various imaging needs across different locations.


• Perform additional duties as needed to support department operations.

• Ability to read and communicate effectively.


• Frequent standing, walking, sitting, pushing, pulling, reaching, and lifting required.


• Work environment may include potential exposure to radiation.
