Withdrawal Management Program Director


PROGRAM DIRECTOR - Medically Supervised Withdrawal Management (AKA Detox and ASAM Level 3.7)

Supervised by: Executive Director  

The Program Director is responsible for providing leadership and oversight of a 10-bed medically supervised detox facility, clinical supervision of the nursing staff, administrative supervision of support staff including the assistant director, substance use counselors and peer-oriented recovery techs. This position is responsible for ensuring high-quality client care and maintaining compliance with relevant regulations and standards. This position will serve on the agency leadership team.


Qualifications:

  • Registered Nurse (RN) with current State of Maine licensure and 2-years of nursing leadership or management is required for this position.
  • Individuals with a Public Health background or backgrounds working with those experiencing Homelessness or in doing street outreach or other mission driven, service oriented, positions are encouraged to apply.
  • Current CPR Certification required.
  • Experience, grit and a compassionate heart for working with people experiencing chronic substance use disorder and /or mental illness.
  •     Experience in screening, assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of alcohol and drug withdrawal symptoms a plus!
  •     Experience in hiring, supervising, training and supporting staff required.
  • Must possess a willingness and desire to work collaboratively with the agency leadership team to solve issues and improve the quality of treatment services for our clients across the organization.
  • Proficiency in using electronic health records, email, and office software programs is required.


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Plan, schedule, organize, and direct activities and services for the detox facility including:
  • Maintain 24/7 nursing staff schedule and adequate prn pool.
  • Provide backup direct nursing care for clients when regularly scheduled staff are unavailable/absent. 
  • Personnel - Support the professional growth of program staff by providing regular feedback and coaching to all staff.
  • Foster a positive work environment that promotes teamwork, collaboration and professional growth.
  • Ensure delivery of high-quality and compassionate client care in accordance with evidence-based practices and professional standards.
  • Hold weekly Staff Meetings, ensuring clear communication and execution of programmatic objectives.
  • Lead daily staff huddles in collaboration with the medical providers to ensure alignment with individual treatment plans for clients
  • Ensure compliance with infection control protocols, medications administration guidelines and client safety protocols
  • Ensure accurate and up-to-date client records, assessments, interventions and outcomes in accordance with facility policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Oversee collection and analysis of data related to client outcomes, and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Stay updated on current trends, research, and best practices in addiction nursing and incorporate them into the program’s policies and procedures.
  • Update Standard Operating Plans and Emergency Plans to ensure safe operation of the facility.
  • Serve as point of contact for pharmacy business operations.
  • Maintain the program budget to move towards program solvency.
  • With the New Horizon’s Medical Director, hold ultimate responsibility for treatment decisions for clients within the program.
  • Manage callouts from nursing staff and assist with on-call coverage.
  • Facilitate good communications and working relationships with other agencies and resources. 
  • Ensure all staff understand and practice client confidentiality as defined by 42-CFR regulations and demonstrate high ethical and professional standards.
  • Accept and perform other duties as assigned.
