Summary:
This contract will act as an automation engineer and supplement the efforts of technology teams who are updating and adding automated features as part of a larger transformation project. They will be supporting core team members as they move items from manual process to automated processes to update legacy technology.
Responsibilities:
Support transformation efforts by automating legacy manual processes using mainframe technologies and enterprise automation tools.
Develop and enhance batch jobs using CA7 scheduler (hands-on automation experience required).
Build and maintain mainframe components including JCL, COBOL, REXX, and SORT utilities.
Work extensively with Hogan mainframe systems, including:
Hogan CIS
Hogan Umbrella
Hogan Deposits
Analyze business and user requirements and translate them into technical specifications and design.
Collaborate with cross-functional partners (analysts, testers, operations teams) across all phases of the SDLC.
Debug and resolve complex technical issues, production problems, and defects independently.
Work with DB2 and IMS databases to support batch processing and mainframe functions.
Apply SQL skills to extract, analyze, and manipulate data as needed.
Provide basic IT project management support such as planning, tracking progress, and reporting status.

Hands-on CA7 job scheduler automation experience
Strong independent debugging skills
Extensive hands-on experience with Hogan mainframe systems
(Strong fit: Hogan CIS, Hogan Umbrella, Hogan Deposits developer experience)
Proficiency in JCL, COBOL, REXX, and SORT utilities
Experience working with DB2 and IMS
Ability to work independently while contributing effectively at enterprise scale
Experience collaborating across large, multi-team environments
Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate requirements into technical solutions
Solid SQL skills
IT Project Management skills or experience
