What are the responsibilities and job description for the Engineering Associate position at WELLS JOHNSON?
Wells Johnson Company is a leading medical device and instrument manufacturing, sales and distribution company serving medical professionals since 1983.
We are currently seeking an Engineering Associate to work directly with Engineering, Production and Quality departments under the supervision of the Senior Product Development Engineer.
This is a full-time, permanent, and in-office position with opportunity for advancement through demonstrated and continued focus on successful contributions.
Essential Functions include, but are not limited to:
- Review, update, create 3-D product models using SolidWorks
- Review, update, record, document and implement drawings using SolidWorks
- Develop, implement and evaluate manufacturing processes and procedures as required.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot device performance deficiencies in pre/post production phases
- Implement design changes after updates and design transfers
- Review, update and implement test procedures
- Create, update and review DMR and DHF files
- Read plans, drawings and procedures to understand the quality requirements of products and services
- Review and update Bills of Material as necessary
- Work cross-functionally with departments to evaluate, edit and update product manuals and instructions
- Operate within the Regulatory and Quality conformance of the company requirements
- Plans and coordinates new projects in accordance with procedures.
Knowledge/Skills/Competencies/Experience
- Basic use and understanding of MTE (Measurement and Test Equipment) i.e., calipers, micrometer, multi-meter, gauge pins, etc.
- Experience and familiarity with SolidWorks
- Demonstrated ability to follow instructions with strong attention to detail
- Preferred experience in a leadership or supervisory position a plus
- BS in Engineering from a 4-year college/university
- Ability to interpret Drawings/Models
- Demonstrated ability to read, analyze and organize data
- Competent communication with related departments and personnel
- Reliable and focused contributor willing to temporarily work outside the scope of the position
Physical Demands
- Duties of the position are performed in manufacturing and administrative setting with frequent exposure to operating machinery, noise and dust.
- Periodic light physical effort and exertion including repetitive motions, using tools and equipment in tight space and handling/moving products
- Periodic lifting may require lifting, pulling, pushing and moving objects over 20lbs unassisted
