What are the responsibilities and job description for the Sr. Financial Analyst position at WELLNEST EMOTIONAL HEALTH & WELLNESS?

ROLE SUMMARY:

The Sr. Financial Analyst is responsible for driving cost-saving initiatives and financial strategy by preparing financial models,  tracking the company's financial performance against annual budgets and established contracts with various government and private agencies, and synthesizing clinical, statistical, and billing data to help improve operational margins.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Prepares detailed monthly and quarterly financial reports, variance analyses, and reimbursement requests for contracts from government and private entities for internal leadership team and stakeholders.
  • Manages contract and grant budgets to ensure inclusion of direct and indirect expenses, monitor budget to actual variances, and process funding reimbursement requests timely.
  • Analyzes the effectiveness of programs by monitoring revenue against expenditures, meeting with program managers and staff to ensure accurate billing and identify budget modifications if needed.
  • Collaborates with stakeholders to prepare contract modifications, renewals, and draft financial proposals for new funding opportunities.
  • Monitors cash collection status for all contracts ensuring all payments and expenditures are appropriately allocated and adhere to contract and organizational policies.
  • Reconciliation of daily cash activity, payables, receivables, general ledger, bank statement and credit card accounts.
  • Records and classifies transactions accurately using appropriate accounting segments and performs month end closing entries.
  • Maintains records to assist the Controller with year-end financial audit, contract monitoring and independent agency reviews.
  • Completes ad hoc analysis reporting and requests from the Chief Financial Officer.
  • Performs other tasks as assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

A Bachelor’s degree in in finance, accounting, economics, or related field is required. Requires three (3) to five (5) years of experience working in an accounting department managing Department of Mental Health (DMH) government contracts and funding, preferably at a non-profit organization or an equivalent combination of experience and education. Advance Microsoft Excel skills and experience in GAAP non-profit/ government accounting standards and CFR 200 requirements. Knowledge and experience working with city, county, and federal funding sources.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

Employee may be asked to pursue additional training when it is determined to be in the best interest of the Company. Employee must have the ability to use a personal vehicle with the required insurance coverage to complete the essential duties of their job and conduct agency business. Employee must maintain a valid California driver’s license and clean driving record that meets Wellnest’s insurance carrier’s criteria for liability coverage. In keeping with Company policy for all employees, the successful applicant must also complete a test for TB, and fingerprint clearance by the Department of Justice. Employee must agree to Wellnest's Arbitration Agreement as a condition of employment.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Employee regularly works in an office environment. Employee may be required to work flexible, evening and/or weekend hours for time-sensitive projects.

  • Ability to respond effectively to sensitive inquiries or complaints
  • Maintain a high level of ethical and professional standards in accordance with agency and community policy

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Ability to talk or hear in order to give and receive information and instructions.
  • Ability to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls
  • Ability to reach with hands and arms.
  • Ability to use computer keyboard up to 75% of the day.
  • Visual acuity, ability to adjust focus and peripheral vision for work on a laptop or other computer equipment.
  • Lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
  • Able to use telephone, office copier, calculator, fax machine, computer printer and scanner, or other equipment as required.
