Responsibilities
- Interpret mechanical blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to accurately fabricate components according to specifications
- Utilize various hand tools, power tools, and shop equipment such as press brake machines, plasma cutters, and pipe threading tools to shape and assemble metal parts
- Perform welding operations including MIG (Metal Inert Gas), TIG (Tungsten Inert Gas), FCAW (Flux-Cored Arc Welding), SMAW (Shielded Metal Arc Welding), ensuring adherence to AWS (American Welding Society) standards and ASME codes where applicable
- Measure materials precisely using calipers, micrometers, measuring instruments, and shop math to ensure accuracy in fabrication processes
- Operate rigging equipment for lifting and positioning heavy components safely on the shop floor or during assembly
- Conduct metal fabrication tasks involving sheet metal work, ductwork, pipe fitting, and assembly of fabricated parts into prototypes or test units
- Follow strict safety protocols at all times while working with power tools, welding equipment, and heavy machinery such as forklifts and machining tools
Qualifications
- Proven construction site experience or manufacturing background with a focus on metal fabrication or mechanical assembly
- Strong knowledge of blueprint reading, schematics, shop math, and interpreting technical drawings
- Skilled in welding techniques including MIG, TIG, FCAW, SMAW with certification preferred; knowledge of ASME codes & standards is a plus
- Familiarity with measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and tape measures for precise fabrication
- Experience operating fabrication shop equipment like press brakes, plasma cutters, pipe threading machines, and power tools
- Mechanical knowledge related to sheet metal fabrication, ductwork installation, rigging, machining, soldering, and assembly processes
- Ability to adhere strictly to safety protocols while working in a fast-paced environment involving construction materials and heavy machinery
