Shop Manager

Position Summary:

Reports to the General Superintendent and is responsible for the overall day-to-day management of the shop. Provides direct assistance to the field Superintendents delivering tools and materials to their projects. Assists with maintenance of the main office, grounds, and shop.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Responsible for the care of all vehicles and trailers in the fleet, including routine oil changes and maintenance, timely inspections, vehicle registrations, and insurance renewals, washing and cleaning
• Report mileage, to the accounting department, for all vehicles required to pay Highway Use Tax (HUT) on a quarterly basis.
• Manage fire extinguisher program to include timely inspections and inventory management for all job sites.
• Be mechanically inclined with the ability to maintain fuel-driven, motorized small-engine equipment, including changing oil, cleaning carburetors, troubleshooting mechanical failures, and performing repairs when applicable.
• Care of lawn maintenance and snow plowing equipment.
• Assist with lawn maintenance and snow plowing as needed.
• Works in conjunction with the General Superintendent to manage tool inventory and needed repairs.
• Assist Field Superintendents with pick-up and delivery of shop supplies and coordinate material deliveries as needed. Track inventory by job via email.
• Ability to run a fork-lift and properly load and drive 18 ft. Stake Body Truck.
• Provide support to the main office for interior and exterior building maintenance.
• Serve as backup support person for the main office maintenance person as needed.
• Participate in planning, set-up, and take down of company events.
• Primary contact off-hours relative to security of the buildings.
• Assist departments with archiving and recycling documents as needed.
• Other duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements and Work Environment:

• This is a full-time, 40 hour, position that typically works Monday through Friday days from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. At times flexible hours may be required as job duties demand.
• Regional travel is required and will vary based on current need.
• Must be able to pass a drug screen.
• Must be able to read, sit, stand, walk, squat, climb, balance, kneel, hear, talk, and drive for extended periods of time.
• Ability to lift more than 25 lbs.
• Must wear common protective safety equipment, such as safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection, hard hats, and high visible vest when working onsite.

Required Education and Experience:

• High school education.
• DOT Physical.
• Related experience preferred.
• Knowledge of construction tools and equipment.
• Knowledge and ability to use Microsoft Office Suite.

Licenses and Certifications:

• Required to have Fork-lift Certification.
• Valid current Driver License.
• OSHA 10

Pay: $22.00 - $28.00 per hour
