Duties
- Design and implement developmentally appropriate lesson plans aligned with early childhood education standards, including literacy, math, physical education, and faith-based methods.
- Lead daily classroom activities that promote active learning, creativity, and social interaction among preschool children.
- Manage classroom behavior through positive behavior management techniques to create a respectful and nurturing environment.
- Collaborate with families to communicate children's progress, developmental milestones, and any special needs related to early intervention or special education.
- Support children’s emotional well-being by fostering self-regulation skills and promoting child welfare practices.
- Oversee classroom management tasks such as maintaining a clean, safe space and organizing materials for effective instruction.
- Conduct assessments using standardized testing tools to monitor progress and tailor instruction to individual learning needs.
- Engage in ongoing professional development related to childhood development, literacy education, childcare best practices, and teaching physical education.
- Supervise assistant teachers or interns while providing mentorship in curriculum development and classroom management strategies.
- Implement inclusive teaching strategies that support children with diverse needs, including those requiring special education or early intervention services.
Qualifications
- Proven experience working with children in preschool settings; prior classroom experience is essential.
- 45-Hour DCF courses including SR courses.
- Strong knowledge of childhood development principles, behavior management techniques, and early intervention strategies.
- Demonstrated expertise in curriculum development across multiple domains such as literacy, math, physical education, and faith-based methods.
- Familiarity with assessment tools for early learners.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively collaborate with families, colleagues, and external specialists.
- Ability to manage a classroom efficiently while fostering an engaging learning environment.
- Experience working with children with special needs or in inclusive classrooms is preferred.
- Certification in early childhood education or equivalent credentials CDA, FCCPC, ECPC; additional training in toddler care or childhood development is advantageous.
