POSITION SUMMARY:
Responsible for the processing of all purchases, stock and non-stock items in order to support supply chain needed for production
MAJOR FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop and maintain sourcing strategies to optimize cost and schedule attainment
- Maintain pricing for all stock part numbers in the ERP system
- Notify Sales, Management and Finance of price increases to update the standard cost
- Support production demands by running MRP, reviewing material demands, placing orders to insure sales orders are delivered on a timely basis
- Work with warehouse management in order to keep inventory up to date
- Support the sourcing of new components for new customer projects
- Support R&D and the Quality Department for documentation requirements and updates
- Establish strategic relationships with key suppliers
- Work closely with Production, R&D and Quality to ensure materials meet specs
- Actively participate in weekly schedule meetings and provide status on supply issues
- Track and report on vendor performance, OTD and costs
- Work out agreements with suppliers to meet cost and supply objectives
- Responsible to hire, interview, train and supervise purchasing personnel
- Resolve vendor issues on damages and credits due from suppliers to support A/P
- Support customer service for update on raw material delays that may affect sales order delivery date
- Continually strive to improve the purchasing method and implement any new methods to improve internal customer service
- This position includes responsibility for ensuring Food Safety.
- Maintain and communicate lead times for critical material to ensure schedule attainment
- Adhere and enforce current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMPs), Good Documentation Practices (GDPs), safety, company rules, SOPs, and policies.
REQUIRED EDUCATION / WORK EXPERIENCE / SKILLS:
- Bachelor’s Degree and/or minimum of 10 years purchasing experience plus 5 years managing a team in a cGMP manufacturing facility in the nutritional, pharmaceutical or food industry.
- Familiar with all aspects of cGMP regulations set by the CFR’s.
- Ability to work closely with Production, R&D, Quality, Sales and Customer Service departments on a day-to-day basis.
- Negotiate contracts and pricing meet with suppliers on behalf of the company.
- Advanced experience with ERP systems, MasterControl, TraceGains, etc.

Salary : $110,000 - $125,000
