Duties
- Assist healthcare providers with patient intake, including collecting medical histories and recording vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, respiration, and temperature.
- Prepare patients for examinations by explaining procedures and ensuring comfort throughout their visit.
- Support clinical procedures by preparing examination rooms, sterilizing equipment, and assisting during X-ray imaging or minor procedures.
- Administer medications and injections following proper protocols, including medication administration documentation.
- Operate Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems accurately to document patient information, diagnoses (ICD coding), treatment plans, and test results.
- Conduct basic physiology and anatomy assessments to support accurate diagnosis and treatment planning.
- Assist with laboratory tasks such as specimen collection or processing tests in outpatient or inpatient settings.
- Manage administrative duties like appointment scheduling, patient check-in/out processes, insurance verification, and maintaining medical records.
- Support emergency response efforts by providing immediate patient assistance in urgent care or trauma situations.
- Maintain compliance with safety standards and hospital protocols while supporting X-ray procedures or other diagnostic services.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Medical Assistant in outpatient clinics, hospital settings, or specialty areas such as dermatology or internal medicine.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, physiology, anatomy, ICD coding, and medication administration protocols.
- Hands-on experience with EHR systems for accurate documentation of patient data and clinical notes.
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) is required; additional certifications such as Geriatrics support or Level I/II Trauma Center experience are preferred.
- Experience supporting diverse clinical environments such as urgent care centers, outpatient clinics, or surgical units like ORs is highly desirable.
- Strong interpersonal skills with a focus on patient service excellence; ability to communicate effectively with patients of all ages including pediatrics (PICU) and geriatrics populations.
